The work included a fully enclosed raised bed vegetable garden; a jumbo flagstone patio and pathway; a fire pit area; and working out complicated drainage and grading issues. Despite numerous obstacles created by the pandemic, our project finished on time and on budget. > > Ecocultures understands, respects, and works WITH nature to create extremely functional and gorgeous landscapes. Chris and his team took the time to actually listen to what we wanted, consider and present various options, and suggest numerous ideas that only true experts would be mindful of. Their attention to detail, artistic mindsets/abilities, and landscaping knowledge and holistic approach were on full display every day. Workdays were long, but they stayed incredibly dedicated, kind, happy, and professional. These guys are incredibly passionate about their work and take great pride in a job well done. Of course they strived to make us happy, but it was also very apparent that they were striving to meet their own high(er) standards. And its fairly easy to find gardening centers that sell specialty flora such as native plants, interesting fruit and berry plants, and plants that help keep pests away. It's much more difficult is to find folks who can plan and execute a landscaping project in a holistic way, keeping in mind issues like soil, climate, drainage and long-term maintenance, make it all look good, and keep the project within budget. EcoCultures has now completed three projects for me over the last two years. I am not only extremely satisfied, I am really excited about how our new landscape is working. I highly recommend EcoCultures. **★★★★★ — Viivi Niitsoo, Feb. 2018** > Chris and Dave renovated a 75X75 area in our backyard that had become inaccessible to us as it was overgrown with weeds and an invasive species called Buckthorn. While the deer liked it (and we liked the deer), we weren't able to use the space. Chris and Dave helped us decide which trees to save and which should be removed. They covered the entire space with cardboard, that eventually composted and became part of the earth. That was covered with soil and mulch. They put in a composting area for garden clippings/prunings (no more dump runs to get rid of brush) and paths. The area was planted with Ecograss, which is a mix of fescues that are drought resistant and require only occasional mowing. It's now a great, natural, usable space requiring little maintenance.
