Mabbott Seidel Architecture is a design practice that provides full architectural, project management, and interior design services. We specialize in creating finely detailed residences, including the design and fabrication of custom millwork and furniture. Our projects include new construction and adaptive reuse within New York City, Long Island, and elsewhere. We strongly believe that the genesis of a successful project is in the close interaction of client and architect during the design process and is realized in partnership with the team of craftspeople MS-A has created over many successful years.

Mabbott Seidel Build, our licensed and insured general contracting company, provides full construction management services. Our services include the daily management of the site, including coordinating all trades, purchases, scheduling and open book accounting of all expenses. Our subcontractors provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems throughout as well as paint, plaster, tile and millwork. Because of our comprehensive involvement from early design through construction, we are able to respond nimbly to site specific decisions and coordinate complex staging, scheduling, and building access.

**Q: Wood walls** *(in Photo Questions)*

What type of wood was this built out of?

A: These planters are made from ipe. It starts out reddish in color and if untreated will turn grey. It's a very dense wood and is commonly used in outdoor furniture.

**Q: the tile for the shower wall** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the color looks like a blue glass. What size are the tiles and where can it be purchased. Looking for a blue glass in 12x24 if possible

A: We've purchased glass tile from a number of vendors. Nemo Tile in NYC has a nice line called Viscaya that are worth checking out. They go all the way up to 12x24.  http://www.nemotile.com/tile/product/viscaya/ Re: color: you should order a number of samples as the colors really do vary between batches/manufacturers. Hope this helps.

**Q: what is the size and color of the Glacier tile used in the shower?** *(in Photo Questions)*

The bathroom is so elegant

A: Thanks for your compliment! The tile is 8x16. I don't have the original color and I've noticed the color choices offered by vendors can change over time. I'd visit your local supplier and pick up samples. In NYC Nemo Tile and Artistic Tile both have nice options. Hope this helps.

A: Thanks for the compliment. We actually had these custom made by a cabinet shop (that also did the kitchen). You could look into modifying a solid core door by a company like Brosco. Hope this helps.

**Q: Love the niche.  Could you please tell me how you did it?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Did you purchase the template?  Thank you!

A: Thanks! The niche was built without a template out of wood framing, cement board and waterproofing (we like Laticrete Hydroban). There's a thin LED strip light mounted in a recess at the top of the niche (designed for wet locations). The tiles were painted by a colleague of ours. I hope this helps!
