> We worked with Mindy and Isaac at Foster Custom Kitchens on a fairly large project: redoing the kitchen, primary bathroom, hall bathroom, and the adjoining foyer and hallways. We could not be happier with the final result or the process that led to it. From our first meeting, it was clear that Mindy and Isaac were paying close attention to what we wanted and were able to turn it into reality — including elements we didn't think were possible.
> The contractor they recommended was excellent, and Mindy and Isaac kept in close contact throughout. They were able to address unforeseen issues behind the walls quickly without compromising the design. There was a snag with the bathroom countertop, but Mindy resolved it promptly and we were fully satisfied with the outcome.
> In sum, we would recommend Mindy and Isaac without reservation and would certainly work with them again.

**Comment from Foster Custom Kitchens:**

> Thank you! We enjoyed working with you on your project and are delighted that you are happy with the process and the outcome. We hope you and your family enjoy your new spaces for years to come!

**★★★★★ — Charles, May 2026**

> Isaac and Mindy were great partners in helping design and execute our kitchen renovation. From our initial design meetings to the final walkthrough they were incredibly supportive, knowledgeable, collaborative, and respectful. We couldn't be happier.

**Comment from Foster Custom Kitchens:**

> Thank you Charles! We enjoyed working with you and to create a beautiful kitchen space!

**★★★★★ — Sam MacMillan, March 2025**

> We recently finished a kitchen remodel with Foster Custom Kitchens—in short, we’ve been very spoiled by the experience. This was our first major home renovation and were naturally nervous about the usual things: the price, the timeline, the multitude of choices, etc. Isaac and Mindy were excellent navigators of the project—knowledgeable, resourceful, forthcoming, and, best of all, KIND. We were never made to feel like we were making the wrong decision about anything nor were we steered toward costly add-ons and options specifically because they were expensive. All together, this was a fantastic (and actually quite fun!) experience. We’re very much looking forward to working with Isaac and Mindy on future projects.
>
> There were only a few oops moments during the renovation that were fixed promptly and really showcased how important it is to work with the right people who know the right people. In one instance, a drawer was just an inch too wide to open properly—instead of telling us to just deal with it, Isaac came up with a couple of fixes that, while the end result was the same (a drawer that could be pulled out properly), the process by which the fix was made was different. Isaac walked us through the options and made sure that we understood what the advantages/shortcomings of each might be. He was very patient and once we decided the route forward, made sure it was done properly. In another instance, I was out of town during the countertop install—while the install went smoothly, Mindy noticed that our sink cutout wasn’t quite cut the way she was anticipating. She quickly sent over clear pictures that showed the problem and when I agreed that the cutout didn’t look quite right, worked with the countertop company to fix the issue promptly. I actually never saw the wrong cutout in person—it was fixed by the time I got back to town a week later. I hadn’t fully realized when we started the project what a relief it would be to be able to depend on both Isaac and Mindy to give the proper due diligence and care to our space, especially when we may not have know what questions to ask.
>
> Other things of note:
>
> Isaac is great with custom wood pieces. He made us several shelves with incorporated lighting as well as a nice chase for the range hood—everything is clearly high quality, well-made and fits perfectly in the space. He’s also very good at troubleshooting and finding the RIGHT solution to issues, not necessarily the easiest ones or ones that are obviously cutting corners.

> Mindy has INCREDIBLE attention to detail and wonderful design insights and suggestions that make a space feel complete and unified. I almost wish that I hadn’t had as clear of an idea of what colors and finishes I wanted in the space, as it would have been fun to see what she came up with. Perhaps that will be on the docket for our next renovation…

> I worked with Mindy to design our complete master bathroom renovation. She was such a pleasure to work with and I love the results! She listened to my ideas and helped me realize my vision, even when I wasn't exactly sure how to achieve it. She also didn't rush me when I got overwhelmed with all the decisions! Her collaborative relationship with Rocco Design & Build, our contractor, was a real asset throughout the project as she could quickly answer questions and relay information. The project went very smoothly, starting and finishing on time. We had one issue with the tile but she helped find another solution that worked out even better than the original design. The space was transformed to a spa retreat that we will enjoy for years!

**★★★★★ — Wendy Robertson, May 2022**

> Foster Custom Kitchens was wonderful from start to finish. The design was thoughtful and creative, and the contractor and his team were expert builders - very knowledgable and professional in their approach. Any problems or questions were handled quickly and well, with designer Mindy always easily available and a joy to work with. We couldn't be more pleased with our renovated kitchen!

> Um, how does that Tina Turner song go…. You’re simply the best, better than all the rest. Yup, that pretty much sums up my experience with Mindy, Andy, et al. Gorgeous bathrooms. They not only gave me bathrooms beyond what I could imagine but were an absolute joy to work with. Which is a blessing in the setting of a remodel. Professional and visionary, they added so much value to our life and home. I wish I could put Mindy in my pocket with me and take her when I move.

**★★★★★ — Jackie Fergerson, May 2020**

> Excellent experience. Andy and Mindy were a joy to work with. They both were able to listen to what my vision for my space was and then offer their opinions about the feasibility, but also what might work better. Workmanship was excellent quality. Mindy was able to understand my taste and offer several suggestions for tile, countertops, paint color etc. I will definitely be using them for other projects in the future.

**★★★★★ — Gwen Spizz, July 2018**

> Dream kitchen! I now have a dream kitchen, and not just any dream kitchen, MY dream kitchen thanks to Andy and Mindy at Foster Custom Kitchens.
> We own an old farm house built in 1860 and then, in 1900, it was moved from one location on one hill to another location on another hill by a one armed man with a team of horses (true story). Over the years it was renovated from a one-family to two-family and back to one-family home, and with all those changes, never really had a reasonable kitchen. Andy and Mindy embraced the vision we had which involved removing a weight bearing wall (we also had an awesome contractor, but that’s a separate review ), and building a true farm house kitchen befitting our farm house. They spent a lot of time with us in our old kitchen, taking many photos and listening to us and what we were hoping for. They put together 3 unique plans, all which would have worked, but one which was truly in line with our vision.
> Once we agreed on the plan, Andy and Mindy listened to what we were saying with regards to the details (even between the lines of couple bickering) and always came up with the solutions and suggestions that were perfect. All the choices for everything, cabinets, floor, hardware, etc are overwhelming. What was so amazing to us throughout this process was that, because they really listened to us, and while we had no experience to know what details would make our vision a reality, their experience and knowledge always provided us with suggestions and solutions that would work for us. Our vision, with their incredible insight, expertise and knowledge made our dream come true.
> Their professionalism, attention to details, availability, and responsiveness helped make this process truly enjoyable and met all of our expectations. If you are looking to design a kitchen, a dream kitchen, I highly recommend working with Foster Custom Kitchens.

> A work of art. That's our new kitchen, thanks to Andy and Mindy at Foster Custom Kitchens. Friends and family entering our home now generally stop at the entry to our kitchen and gape. The project took more than year, only because, in Andy's words, that was the natural "gestation period" of the creation. We have a 1860 farm house and wanted our new kitchen to integrate well into the space and finishes in the rest of the house. It does. Andy and Mindy came to visit a number of times, listened very carefully to what we wanted, quickly "got us" and began to envision our new kitchen. Though it took time they convinced us change our traffic flow radically by removing one exterior door. That change made all the difference and opened up the east wall for functional space, new light and a great new view. Andy mocked up several different styles and stains of cabinet doors that we could try out in the kitchen. We eventually chose just the right one. They were incredibly patient with our snail's pace decision-making and amazingly responsive to suggestions, worries, concerns. They both have exquisite taste. I quickly learned to trust Mindy's design recommendations and the few times I didn't listen, I now regret! These are two of the nicest people you will meet. Very responsible and extremely creative. Rave, rave, rave. Ten stars for Andy Foster and Mindy VanderVen. Wow!

**★★★★★ — Nancy Robbins, June 2018**

> I was very pleased with the help Mindy gave us for the bathroom that we made handicapped accessible. She worked with the contractor we chose to make crucial measurements and design choices in a small space. She was good at intuiting our taste and giving us examples to choose from. All in all a very happy experience.

**★★★★★ — Winnie Kostroun, June 2018**

> It was a pleasure to work with Mindy from Foster Kitchens. She has great ideas, was reliable, flexible, attentive, and very skilled in her knowledge. I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to design a new bath or kitchen.

**★★★★★ — Drew, Sept. 2017**

> We had a concept on how to renovate our master bathroom, but weren’t able to fully flesh out our idea and knew we needed help. We turned to Foster Custom Kitchens because we had seen their signs up everywhere for years, so it seemed like lots of people liked them. The completed projects on their website also looked great. We never worked with a designer before, so everything was new to us. We principally worked with Mindy. She did an amazing job understanding what we wanted to accomplish. She provided a number of options to help us narrow down and finalize tile selection. She had numerous design ideas that we incorporated but would have never thought of on our own. The whole process was very collaborative. Communication was excellent throughout the project and we couldn’t be happier. We look forward to working with Mindy on a future project.
