> Natalie was a pleasure to work with! She is a very skilled and highly trained artisan! She has a deep historical understanding of architecture and the decorative arts. She has a wide array of specialized products and tools at her disposal.
>
> Natalie took time to understand the look I wanted to achieve, and continued to work closely with me every step of the way. The result- a kitchen with beautiful plaster and beam work that appears very authentic, and makes me feel as though I am in an old French farmhouse!
>
> Natalie provided clear pricing for our project, and there were no hidden costs.
>
> My husband and I highly recommend her!

> Before meeting with Natalie and B R U S H E D, many rooms in my home were very chaotic and a source of much frustration. We brought Natalie in for color analysis, design, and redesign work to help bring a sense of order back to our home. After my appointment with Natalie yesterday, my home is so calm! I just want to sit there and enjoy it. Everything came together beautifully and I feel like I can finally enjoy my home! Sitting in the newly designed spaces gives me a warm feeling—before I didn’t even want to walk by the room without being frustrated with poor placement of furniture and disarray. Your home is supposed to give you a feeling of comfort, peace, and calm. Now, this room does exactly that with our beautiful B R U S H E D redesign! They have served us for three years and in two homes. We have never been happier!
>
> I want to also mention that B R U S H E D does beautiful decorative finishing and restoration work on fine pieces. Everything Natalie touches is like beautiful artwork! She paints a picture within our homes and special places in such a caring way!

> EXELLENCE IN CRAFTSMANSHIP!!! That’s how I would describe Natalie’s exceptional talent and eye for detail. Her ability as an artisan is unbelievable! I asked her to look at some antique picture frames and tell me if they could be restored. I wasn’t sure what the response would be, since the frames were very ornate with many pieces missing. Actually, I thought it was hopeless. She took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and needed to do in my Tuscan decorating project. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the finished frames! Natalie’s suggestions were absolutely perfect to compliment the whole project. She stayed within budget and went above expectation with the results. I still receive compliments on the wonderful restoration work she did on my frames!!!

> Talented! Professional! Skilled!
> Natalie made us feel comfortable and willing to hear what we wanted. It didn't take her long to understand and know exactly what our style of decor was. Natalie provided us choices of color, decor, etc. She was willing to make suggestions, however, it was apparent she was open to what we most wanted to see in the transformation of our home.
> Any suggestion she gave was on target and made a huge difference in the look and feel of our space. The finished product is beautiful! Our home is cozy, warm and welcoming. We love sharing it with people. What a amazing experience it has been working with Natalie. Brushed is the best decision we ever made!
> Thank you!

**Comment from Brushed:**

> Donna, it was a pleasure to work in your beautiful home. I am touched to receive your heartfelt review and thrilled I was able to make your dreams a reality. I look forward to future projects and hopefully--more tea. I so enjoyed my time with you.

> Natalie is an artist. She helped complete and enhance a basement remodel. My husband had a vision for a wine cellar and she went beyond our wildest expectations! We now have a stone (faux) cellar, old barn wood (faux) decorates all corners and a mural of a vineyard to complete the image of an old European wine cellar. She not only came up with the ideas but could complete all tasks on time and on budget! She can also help with decorating, (both ideas and vendors). In closing I will use her again and you will be thrilled if you include her in your next remodel!!

**Comment from Brushed:**

> Katie, it was a pleasure to work with you! This has been such a special project with so many meaningful touches. Thank you for your trust and most of all—your friendship. I can’t wait for my next visit to see your family, the horses, Fitzie, and Shaggy!

> I have owned a Goodyear independent franchise in Kingsport, TN for twenty-one years. We had made some interior changes over the years but the exterior painting scheme had remained unchanged--as the historical Goodyear blue and yellow.
>
> In November 2018, my partner and I made the decision that changes were badly needed and we decided a complete renovation of interior and exterior was in order. We needed major changes to "wow" our customers.
>
> Natalie Tackett, with B R U S H E D, had done a wonderful job working with my wife on the interior design of our home and I told her our intentions.
>
> She became like a 'child in a candy store', just overcome with excitement of the possibilities of being a part of our store transformation. I told her we wanted our customers to experience a 'wow" experience when visiting our store. Her response was, "I'll give you wow!" And that she did!
>
> It is so rewarding to sit and listen to customer comments as they visit our location after all the changes. Some comments from just yesterday were, " I thought I was in the wrong place!' and, "what you have done to this place is unbelievable...", and, "you got the place all jazzed up!", "Looks so good in here!", and, "this is awesome!".
>
> We are so proud of the transformation we can't wait to open our doors every morning to "wow" our next customer.
>
> This was an amazing HGTV-style renovation in an unbelievable time frame. Thank you, Natalie from all of our associates for delivering on your promise to give us that WOW.
>
> We are so proud!

**★★★★★ — Darcy Stracner, Dec. 2018**

> Natalie is fantastic! I asked her to help me create a wine cellar look in my basement and she went above and beyond. She took the time to really understand what I was wanting and created samples for me. She helped me with lighting and accessories and even went with me to purchase a sofa. She is the ultimate professional.

**Comment from Brushed:**

> It was such a pleasure working with you and your family to create such a personalized finish and space. I can’t wait to help put the design elements in your basement together and bring the rest of your vision to life!

**★★★★★ — Michelle Umbarger, March 2018**

> Brushed owner Natalie Tackett is a remarkable artist! I have had the privilege of seeing numerous projects from beginning to completion for friends and my employer. Natalie’s work is professionally done with heart and care. All projects are unique and each with their own challenge which she does with ease. Be assured that the project from beginning to end will be done with attention to every detail and end beautifully. If you have a small or large project, be it a custom decorative finish or the restoration of valued piece I fully recommend Brushed.

**★★★★★ — David Thomas, Dec. 2017**

> I had the awesome experience of having Natalie Tackett, Brushed Artist, work with me in my home. Her vision and understanding are second to none and she was able to bring a unique warm finish to my great room that I absolutely love and that has made the room my favorite. I look forward to working with her on our next project.

**Comment from Brushed:**

> David, thank you for your kind words. What a pleasure it was to bring your home and the space you spend so much time to life. You (and Cinnamon!) have been a delight to work with. I also cannot wait for our next project!

**★★★★★ — Win Ko, Dec. 2017**

> We have the pleasure to work with Natalie on several projects. Her work is consistently excellent. The level of the attention to detail and skillful techniques that Natalie provided were amazing. Natalie painted the banister to match the newly installed barn door. The faux wood grain on the banister was so realistic they were breathtaking. Thank you for the excellent work. Can't wait for Natalie to come back to Atlanta to begin the faux marble finish coffee table project.

**★★★★★ — Winnie Kosma, Aug. 2016**

> Not only is the Brushed Artist owner, Natalie Tackett, a genius with brush and paint, she is also a talented and outstanding designer and consultant for this challenging renovation project for a downtown Atlanta condo. She respects budget, listens to concerns and comes up with creative yet practical solutions. From matching paint color for repairing existing walls and doors to discussing color choices to enhance and complement the design, her professionalism and attention to detail shines through her work. Her faux marble table top finish transform the dining area and the Venetian plaster wall added a touch of old world charm to an urban condo. I can't thank Natalie enough for the fabulous work she has done!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Powder room paint** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am trying to redo a powder room in steps starting with paint. I am painting over a sponged wall. Two questions, first the present wall is not totally smooth. Should I sand it before I paint? Does anyone have a favorite medium beige/medium taupe paint color? It's off a kitchen that is sea salt and the floor tile is beige/white with no real pattern. Thanks

A: P.S. Sudan Sand is a Glidden color.

**Q: Where to find cheaper Chinoiserie Wallpaper/Murals** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I love the wallpapers from De Gournay and Gracie but i do not want to break the bank to buy it. Does anyone know a company who makes less expensive chinoiserie wallpapers? Thank You!
Both pictures are De Gournay

A: Mural Art LLC, I should have specifically stated a simple design.

**Q: What should I do with the bricks and beams??** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi -

I'm stuck on what to do with the beams and fireplace of this family room. This photo (pic1) was taken from the kitchen which being renovated and has painted off white (pearl) colored maple cabinets and and light colored granite counter tops. (pic 2)

We painted the walls Ben Moore natural linen and the window frames and chair rail white (which used to be dark brown with dark paneling on the lower half of the wall). The floors are now oak hardwood.

Should we paint the beams and or the brick? If so, what colors and what is the easier, less messy route to take? All or some? I want to paint but I'm afraid of making a huge mistake!

Need advise please! Thanks - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A: You certainly have a challenge! If I was being asked my recommendation for this room by a client, I would recommend painting, staining or whitewashing the beams based on the style and decor of the home. I feel like that alone would greatly soften the look and remove the focus from the dark, linear design of the beams in the photo provided. With regard to the brick: there are a number of options available for that as well. If you like the colors of the brick as pictured, but feel they are too dark for the space, using a sponge painting method to soften and mute the colors slightly would be a nice option instead of a solid paint color. If this fireplace will be used, make sure the paint used on the brick has a high heat rating.

**Q: What color should I paint my circular tray ceiling in my kitchen nook?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I posted this earlier but now have pictures of the ceiling in the kitchen nook. It has lots of windows so I am sure plenty of light will come in. The room is next to my kitchen that has a flat ceiling. The next room over is our Great Room and it has a tray ceiling I don't want to paint. The wall color is Believable Buff and the trim is a white color. The kitchen cabinets are cream glaze, the granite is a tan, white beige brown color. We have 3 alcoves that we painted Cardboard which is a darker hue than Believable Buff. Would this be too dark. Or could I paint it light blue which I love. Our Great room has lots of beige/tan in it with blue accents. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks

A: You certainly could...it could look very coastal and have a very island or sunny Florida feel. The trick is to use subtlety without being garish. My personal favorites are always more natural color schemes, but I have also painted and glazed vaulted, tray & barrel ceilings with pale blues that really bring the outside in.

**Q: Have you ever dealt with Popcorn Ceilings?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Have you had to deal with popcorn ceilings in your home before? Did you work with them or did you go to the trouble of removing them?

Share your experience! (photos encouraged)

A: I have been asked during small faux finishing projects to also remove popcorn ceilings (in newer construction homes \[no asbestos issues\]). I found that putting down disposable drops, then spraying the ceiling surface with a pump garden sprayer filled with warm water makes the job (and cleanup) super easy. Yes, it is time consuming, but really finishes a room beautifully. I also like to use a 3-4" plaster knife/spatula for removal at a 20-30° angle...the popcorn easily comes off in strips. I also highly recommend a headlamp and head covering of some sort. Safety goggles also keep the particles out of your eyes.
