That Dan is a gifted, deeply accomplished architect is undisputed. Just look at his work, talk to people who have worked with him. It speaks for itself. It’s in a league of its own. The trait that sets Dan apart is he brings an extraordinary calmness to every situation. A slight smile, and an assurance there’s a design solution at hand. There’s a character in the Twilight Saga (we had girls, I had to read along!), James. James’ vampire superpower was his ability to calm the most fraught, sometimes dangerous situations. His mere presence exuded de escalation, a sense of peace. I’m not saying Dan is a vampire. But people who have this power derive it from an assurance they have the skills to navigate, mitigate and evolve situations because they’re gifted, talented and have the breadth of experience affording them this confidence. All this to say, you cannot find a better architect. And Dan designed a house we love. The bonus was working with a calming presence, from literally tissue paper to the home we have today.
