Alison Kendall is a California licensed Architect and LEED Accredited Professional with specialty in Building Design and Construction.  She has a Masters of Architecture and Masters of City Planning from University of California at Berkeley, where she taught Environmental Design and Energy Efficient Architecture.  

She is also a GreenPoint Rater for New and Existing single and multi-family dwelling and a Building Performance Institute Building Analyst specialized in energy efficiency. She has taught sustainable architecture and planning to students and professionals in California and in France.  She founded Kendall Planning + Design as Sole Proprietor in 1997 in the San Francisco Bay Area and relocated the practice to Santa Monica in 2003.

> Alison Kendall of Kendall Planning + Design assisted me in planning the conversion of my typical lawn to an attractive garden filled with native plants, focused on drought-tolerant California natives that provide habitat to the local bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Alison helped me by creating a visual plan that was to-scale and suggesting an attractive layout of hardscape and plantings. Alison listened to my ideas and vision for the garden as well, and incorporated them into the design. I used Alison's plan as my working document when working with the two-man team who turned the design into reality, and I also took Alison's plan with me when shopping for native plants. The resulting garden has grown in nicely and looks wonderful. Thank you to Alison for helping me provide such a good start to this landscaping project!

He lives in Denver so we needed to have a local architect who could help us get the Santa Monica city permit and submit the drawings to the city. We chose Alison Kendall for that. We knew Alison through our church and were well aware of the projects she has shepherded there. Alison is very knowledgable about the rules and regulations in Santa Monica and she is committed to green building as we are. She guided us in that area with recommendations on making our ADU totally electric. A: Our firm, Kendall Planning + Design, specializes in GreenPoint Rating and integrating sustainable building practices in all our projects. Our clients have installed blown in cellulose attic and wall insulation, changed light fixtures to LEDs, replaced inefficient appliances and planted water and energy efficient landscaping.  The changes save hundreds of dollars, improve comfort and beauty, and help homeowners feel that they are doing their part to protect the environment for the next generation. We are currently working on a Net Zero Energy home in the LA area which will produce all its energy needs and charge an electric car as well!
