I want to get faux woodds tile. But in a year I am going to completely remodel the kitchen. New cabilites, counterpoint, etc. Do I have to wait for the remodel to get a new floor? A: I would suggest you rethink the faux wood tiles. Personally I never subscribe to one material trying to look like something it is not. I know they are popular now but unlike traditional tile they will soon look dated and you will find yourself hating your floors again. **Q: Help with flooring color to coordinate with orange toned cabinets** *(in Design Dilemma)* Carpet on the 1st level of the house needs to be replaced and I want to do a wood look throughout for continuity. It will be less expensive to replace the current beech hardwood vs match and refinish so I am looking at my options. Would it be best to stick with a lighter colored floor to coordinate with the orange toned cabinets or would any darker options look good? Side note: appliances will be replaced with stainless steel and island with be sized down and rectangular. Under cabinet lighting already in place. Your kitchen is on the small size so it is important to eliminate contrast and blend. The fewer changes in color and tone the better. **Q: Triangle shaped apartment (700 sqft) layout - HELP!!** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi all! I'm moving into a new apartment fresh out of college, and for the time being, I will be living in this awkwardly shaped apartment (700 sqft). Being a complete beginner at furnishing, I wish I could have found a place with a more straightforward floor plan, but given the absolutely insane rent and demand in the area I'll be living in, I am happy to settle for this guy. I'm not too crazy with the example layout above, and I'd love to hear any advice houzz community might have in mind. I will be living with one other person, and we will be sharing one bed. Following is the list of furnitures/appliances I'd really like to (more like, need to) fit in this apartment: (at least) a 2-seater sofa a 46-inch TV (or a monitor on a desk) a small dining table (maybe 2 or 3 small chairs) a queen/full bed (with large drawers underneath) a nightstand The awkward living room space is making it really difficult to place sofa and TV in a way that makes sense. I don't think I'll enjoy watching movies with my head tilted. So I'm considering getting a desk and a computer monitor instead, since the TV is really just going to be used as a huge monitor for us two (netflix, movies, etc.). Also, it would be great if I could fit in a medium-sized drawer somewhere in the bedroom - or maybe even inside the closet space. I would also suggest that you switch the table and chairs to the kitchen end. I have struggled with furniture placement, rugs and window blinds for 25 years! This oddly shaped room has a lot of light and faces southeast. I LOVE this room but know that there is so much more I could do with it. Thanks in advance A: I agree with Mocreidhi except I don't think the rugs work for you. I would think the medium dark wood walls and ceiling make for a warm cozy environment in winter but seem a little dark and warm in the spring and summer. I would change the rugs and find a fabric in very bright cheery colors (picking up some of the orange in the chair) Yellow, orange ,lime green with a little touch of brown. A bright cotton print tropical design comes to mind. I would make simple roman shades for each window, a table cloth(with a square over cloth of the dominate color) and large comfort pillows for the sofa all out of the same fabric. This will not only brighten up the drab space but also establish a theme. Put down plain rugs in the dominate color of the fabric. **Q: Small dining area dilemma** *(in Design Dilemma)* I need help!
