I moved from MD to VA in February of 2015 and as a result purchased a new home. I have worked with a few interior decorators over the last 15 years and know first hand the benefits of finding the right person. I recognized the great potential of my new home when I first saw it; however, realizing that potential would require professional help. I am a single working mother of a four-year with little spare time to enjoy the actual process of decorating. This is where LJI has made all the difference. Liza is personable, creative, attentive and energetic! She has the innate ability to perfectly adjust to your needs - creative and financial - no matter how fluid they may be. She is a true professional who embraces her trade and imparts enthusiasm with each decision and selection. Her friendly demeanor makes even the most tedious tasks bearable. She has a wonderful eye and sense of style and effectively blends her expertise with my personal tastes. She interfaces with my other home professionals (architect, builder, landscaper, handymen, etc.) to help fulfill each new vision for my home. We have been using a phased approach to decorating to match my cash flow expectations. We have incorporated the use of old and new items to ease the budget impact and revive the look of my personal mementos and favorite pieces. My project is a top to bottom refresh of the home inside and out. It includes a kitchen remodel, new screened porch and deck, new entryway and large garage/addition. We started small with basic decorating and have progressed into the bigger projects. Through it all Liza has delivered the same level of professionalism and passion. Decorating and maintaining the beauty of a home is a continuous process. She asked what I LIKED and made recommendations based on my style, not hers. She worked within the budget I had provided and found ABSOLUTELY the best accessories, furniture, and window treatments for my dining room. When she presented her proposal, it was skillfully prepared with sample fabrics, trim, paint colors, and room layouts. My husband, who usually does not attend these meetings, made a point of being there for the final presentation. She "wooed" both of us with her elegant, yet contemporary vision for our dining room. As young professionals, we don't have the ability to plunk down a large amount of money to redo our entire home at one time. Thankfully, Liza has a solution for that with her "Design Bible." She took about 2-3 hours to sit with us and understand what we liked, what we didn't like and our ultimate vision for our new home and put together an absolutely stunning design for all of the rooms we discussed, complete with layout map, product list and prices so we could pick and choose what we were able to do given our budget at certain times so we can plan out our design projects with our budget! And she doesn't stop there, Liza has made several trips back to help me as I implement her designs just to confirm a color or measure to get estimates for wallpapers or flooring. I cannot be happier with her service, professionalism, understanding for our budget and situation and not making us uncomfortable because its not always a "big" job (as many interior designers do). She has absolutely earned our business for life and when our design projects are done she will be doing our big ticket redo's of 3 bathrooms and complete kitchen remodel! We initially contacted her based on Houzz recommendations to help us update our bedroom. She obtained all the information necessary on the initial visit and was able to estimate the amount of time needed for the project. What I really appreciated was that she presented us with a proposal that included two choices for each item to be obtained. This is really good for someone who gets overwhelmed with too many choices.
