> Unbelievable results and even better service! After the job was done, we were in total disbelief that our floors could look this good! We bought a 26 year old home this year that has been a major project to say the least. Our old standard white builders tile floors were chipped and had an unpleasant colored rose grout. We had intended to rip up the floors asap but budgetary restrictions due to other repairs prevented that so I began looking for a way to slap a bandaid on the problem and that's when I happened on a Google listing for Desert Tile & Grout Care. I called and left a message for the owner Josh Parkhouse. I received a return call in just a few days time (I called outside of normal business hours) and Josh was able to get the job scheduled super quickly. But that's not where it ends. After the job was done I noticed a couple of areas that the sealer had been thinly applied to. Texted Josh and he had his crew come back the very next day to touch up those areas. He even came back to inspect the finished job! Then after that he followed up with me and offered to re-clean the floors again because when he was here he noticed some areas he said had "overage" or where the ground paint bled up onto the tile. With a job like this it's completely understandable that there would be little things like that and it's so not a big deal to me but I'm beyond impressed by the pride Josh takes in his business, the quality of the work his crew performs, and his overall high standard for doing business. As long as Josh is in business we will NEVER do business with another company for the care of our tile and grout. This company is A+ in my book. You don't find many business owners these days that do business like Josh and I'm beyond happy with how our tile turned out! Our tile floors are beautiful now and we are happy to live with them for years to come as we can now focus our funds to other repairs and improvements. I seriously can't say enough good, everyone who has seen our floors has been blown away by the difference and I've already been asked by several neighbors and friends for Josh's info. Josh went beyond and above my expectations every step of the way to make sure I was completely satisfied with the results. Honestly it's not even worth calling another company for a quote when one this good and affordable exists! Save yourself the phone calls and hassle and just call Josh, and feel great about supporting a business run by a man with a high level of integrity, honesty, and who values his customers!

  - Description: Ceramic tile is both beautiful and durable; it can last as long as your home, but it isnt completely maintenance free. Dirt adheres easily to the surface, especially styles with textured surfaces. Eventually this dirt that collects in the tile will dull and discolor it, leaving it looking old and dirty. Tile requires periodic deep cleaning and maintenance to eliminate deeply penetrated dirt and stains. Ceramic tile grout is much more vulnerable to problems than the tile itself. Unsealed grout is…

  - Description: http://deserttileandgrout.com Arizona is one of the fastest growing states in the United States and we need durable flooring to keep up with us. But we dont want to sacrifice beauty and style. With stone flooring you dont have to sacrifice anything! What could be more durable than stone? There are numerous types of stone to choose from, and each type has different properties that make it suitable for different uses.

  - Description: http://www.deserttileandgrout.com/mexicantile.asp Since much of the ambience of Arizona is steeped in Mexican culture, including building and decorating styles, Saltillo Tiles and Mexican Tiles are extremely popular. Saltillo tile is a type of terra cotta tile that originated in Saltillo, Mexico. These tiles are made from natural clay and mostly produced in Mexico. They have a distinctive rustic appearance and sometimes contain animal tracks made during the drying process, which are said to be g…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Really ugly brick walled corner** *(in Design Dilemma)*

A wood stove will go here, but the existing brick is ugly. What's an alternative?

A: I agree with @indianpatti. I like the look of the brick. Does it go with the rest of the room?

@ThisSoldHouse has a great guide to help with whitewashing brick, if you do decide to keep the brick! http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/asktoh/question/0,,227870,00.html

Another option could be to have the brick cleaned to help enhance the brick like the attached pic? Here are a few more before and after pics of brick: http://www.deserttileandgrout.com/brick.asp

Good luck!

**Q: Need help with guest bathroom tile and counter selection** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are getting ready to update our guest/powder bathroom and would like input on some of the material choices. We will be tearing out the bathtub surround, the vanity and flooring. The surround will be replaced with a tub and tiled up to the ceiling. The toilet is new, so it stays. Also the mirror and lighting are new and will stay (unless you think the mirror doesn't work, it can be moved else where in the house). My husband picked out the lights, so they stay :) We have picked knotty alder for the vanity, and the picture shows the cabinet style and finish.

We are considering a copper sink and using these slate tiles on the floor. I love the look of the slate, but only in small amounts (like just on the floor). We need ideas on what type of tile would go with the slate and look nice around the tub up to the ceiling. Also need help with what type of counter material would look good on the vanity and go with the slate and copper sink.

He would also like some type of look on the walls besides just paint. We're not thinking tile, maybe some type of beadboard or wood??? He would like this bathroom to have a rustic feel without being overdone.

We have finished remodeling our living room and kitchen and got lots of our ideas from everyone here at Houzz. The kitchen was mostly mine to design, so he's taking on the bathroom. He'd like some help from all of you. Thanks!!

A: I agree with @A Crew of Two, the first thing to do is to replace the mirror with a bigger one! You mentioned you wanted to go with a rustic look, I think replacing the sink and possible the cabinet with a nice rustic vanity/sink would look great! My last opinion would be to swap out the flooring with some rustic looking brick? http://www.deserttileandgrout.com/brick.asp

Good luck! I would love to see some after pictures!

**Q: Laundry room and 1/2 bath** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Orange peel walls, cheap laminate floors, original fixtures from 1970 - help!! Cheap tub sink.... All need to go and remodeled... This bath is accessed from the pool area- needs to be wet floor friendly and have room for towels, laundry products, etc.

A: I think adding some color will help brighten this laundry room! Maybe painting the wall and even the cabinets? Here is a helpful blog I came across talking about how to paint cabinets: http://budgetmybuild.co/remodeling/how-to-paint-kitchen-cabinets You could also add some space saving items to help store your household items.

Another option could be to replace the floor with a charming color ceramic tile? Ceramic tiles are extremely durable, especially in comparison to other wall, counter and floor coverings. Here is a helpful blog talking about the advantages of ceramic tile: http://www.deserttileandgrout.com/ceramic-tile/the-advantages

Good luck! I would love to see an after picture!
