Let me start by saying that my husband and I both would (and have) whole-heartedly recommend Doug and his company, Evergreen Construction, without any concern or reservations. We had heard horror stories from people about building a new custom home, and everyone warned us there would be at least a couple of major problems and/or delays. None of that proved to be true with our project. It went extremely smoothly from Day 1 until we moved in 6 weeks before our contract said- in time for my dream of waking up in my new house on Christmas Day. His team knew how important that was to me and worked like crazy the last couple of months to make it happen once it looked potentially doable. We live in an older, well-established neighborhood where about half of the original 1930'-40's houses have either been torn down and rebuilt or drastically renovated in the last 5-10 years. One of our goals was to inconvenience the neighbors as little as possible and to keep the house appropriate for the neighborhood, both of which the Evergreen crew accomplished. I even had a personal email from a couple who has lived in the neighborhood for 40+ years commending us on our design and how it stayed true to its surrounding but also especially commenting on how great our builder was- that they kept a vey clean lot, had people there almost every single day working, and responded immediately and well to the couple of issues neighbors had. By the end of the first meeting we had with Doug, we knew he and his company were who we would use. He was the only one of the 3 builders we interviewed who went out on the initial meeting and walked our lot with us, describing what he envisioned based on our ideas. Throughout the process, his workers were professional and gave us excellent advice and patiently answered all our questions. I am a surgeon, so by nature, I tend to be very OCD and constantly was checking on things at the site, which he and his subcontractors all tolerated! I want to especially call attention to not only the company's owner, who is always personally involved in the project and our project manager who was also great, but to their Operations Manager, Ashley, who was a lifesaver for a couple like us who both work crazy hours at full-time jobs. She arranged all the meetings and appointments we needed and sent me all the finishes' estimates for me to approve, while working around our horrible schedules. She also knew every single tiny detail of the project and was incredible at communicating with us. Having her to bounce our thoughts on options off of was also invaluable. Lastly, with the exception of allowances that I elected to go over budget on, the house was on budget!
