> When I first started looking for a new stove I noticed the positive reviews about Capital and Trevor Lawson at Eurostoves..
> Trevor Lawson was helpful and knowledgeable. I decided to order from him and had to make full payment because it was a special order.
> Now when it came to time get my stove Trevor never returned my numerous calls and emails. I made repeated attempts to contact him. I finally contacted Capital and the distributor who was very helpful. At that point I found I was among many who were in the same position.
>
> I grant the fact there may be unknown reasons why Trevor is not contacting his customers.
> BUT he has a partner and other employees who could also service his customers. It's a shame that many customers are now struggling to get refunds and must wait months for credit card companies to investigate this mess. My card company also reached out, they have so far not heard back from Eurostoves either . If you paid by check... good luck!!
>
> I doubt there will be future problems because they appear to be out of business or off the radar. If Eurostoves reads this I hope they will honor their commitments and call customers who paid and didn't get what they paid for!!!

> Please be careful when you do business with Trevor and Karen. I ordered $10k worth of appliances and they have disappeared. With the exception of an email saying he will be in touch with me after vacation, I have not been able to get any information about the delivery of my range and refrigerator. I was to give 2 weeks advance notice when I needed the appliances delivered and I can't get them to reply to email, or answer their phone. Please be careful! If you look carefully, there is only one phone number to reach them. They have multiple websites and only one phone number. No back up if they are in fact on vacation to assist you with your purchase.

> Less than two weeks ago, after researching Eurostoves, numerous ranges and prices, and after reviewing his YouTube series of videos (strongly recommend!!), I called Trevor Lawson at Eurostoves.
>
> In plain-speak, Trevor went over the differences between ranges, and within 5.....okay...15 minutes I had a Capital Culinarian 30" open burner on order. I was calling on a Friday, and Trevor explained that it would ship on the following Thursday, with normal delivery taking 11 to 12 days after that - this when most others were quoting one to two months.
>
> My price was $3999.00, well I also bought the $175.00 wok ring, so the total price was $4174.00 delivered to my house on the West Coast. This was maybe not the absolute best price available, but included as part of Eurostove's deal is an extended parts warranty, and also Trevor's offer to help with any factory warrantee issues that might arise. In my opinion, this has considerable value, especially after reading the problems other appliance buyers had experienced when their online low-price dealers seemed to disappear after the sale.
>
> Well, yesterday, 12 days after ordering and just 6 days after shipping, I had an impeccably packaged and well-secured-to-a-pallet new Capital Culinarian range professionally delivered into my garage. It was a bit of load getting into place in the kitchen, but well worth the effort and deserving of the beers that followed. All I did last night was admire and play with it, making sure everything works; but it convinces one that it can do the job!!
>
> Without reservation, I can recommend Trevor Lawson and Eurostoves to anyone in the confusing process of deciding on a new appliance.
>
> I want to clearly and unequivocally state that I have only ever spoken with Trevor over the phone, I don't know him nor have I ever met him in person, nor do I have any financial or other interest Eurostoves. I simply believe in giving credit to a job well done.

> Trevor is the most knowledgeable man when it comes to his appliances. I made the mistake of ordering my stove from AJ Madison before I did my research. I placed my order in Aug and was promised delivery in 6-8 weeks. It has now been 10 weeks and, after chasing down a rep from AJ Madison, now I'm told it will be another 3-4 weeks before they will know an estimated ship date, not a guaranteed date. I called Trevor, out of shear frustration, and he instantly got to work finding my $7000 range. He even talked me through the shipment process. He helped, not for any profit, but because he cares about people. If I could do it all over again I would definitely bypass the AJ Madison headache and go with a true professional.
> BEWARE of AJ Madison they have some of the worst reviews on line. They are not worth the trouble. If your order actually arrives, some orders never make it!, and it is damaged you are stuck with it and have to go through the nightmare of AJ Madison customer service and hopefully they will send someone to repair it. Some of these reviews will point out that they were offered only $50 in compensation for selling broken appliances, not a replacement or a refund but only $50! https://m.yelp.com/biz/aj-madison-appliance-showroom-brooklyl
> Don't make my mistake, USE EUROSTOVES from the beginning! Trevor would never treat his customers in such a manner.

> I have encountered Trevor ( Eurostoves appliance expert ) many times in my research for my kitchen remodel. I learned about open burners vs sealed burners through his videos, and read many of his comments on the GardenWeb forums. His generosity with his time and knowledge is really wonderful. Recently I found myself in a bind where the range hood I wanted for my kitchen remodel was backordered 12 weeks and I was going to have to settle for something not quite what I was looking for.
>
> Trevor came in and saved the day by offering me a great deal on a display model from the Eurostoves showroom. I ended up with an even better hood than I originally was looking at. The hood arrived today just as described and I couldn't be happier. Thank you so much Trevor and Eurostoves!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Color matching appliances and cabinets** *(in Appliances)*

We want our cabinets, Blue Star 30" range, and our under cabinet Vent A Hood all to match the Ben Moore color on our walls. Our cabinet maker can do anything, Blue Star says they can custom color match, but our appliance vendor told us that Vent A Hood doesn't do custom colors. I looked online, Vent A Hood's website says they do, so I asked our appliance vendor. She talked to them and told me: "I don't recommend a Vent A Hood because they told me that they cannot guarantee a color match even if they use the same RAL \#."
I like the idea of a Vent A Hood because they are supposed to be very quiet, powerful, and well made. Also, a painted Blue Star hood costs $2,500, which seems absurdly expensive to me.
Can someone explain to me what a RAL\# is, why Blue Star can match it, our cabinet makers can match it, but Vent A Hood cannot? Is it that none of them really can make this guarantee but Vent A Hood is just being more explicit about it? I wonder too if my cabinetmaker could paint a Vent A Hood for us. It would at least match the cabinets if not the range. Any thoughts?
Note, this picture was my inspiration for having the hood painted to match the range.

This pic is my inspiration for a Blue Star range in a white shade with white knobs.

A: The substrate and texture of metal and wood make it very difficult to match if not impossible, not to mention RAL paint batches can vary. When you try to match cabinets, range and hood your dealing with 3 different paint batches. It only needs to be off by a shade or two to look like you tried to match and failed :(

**Q: CFM question, etc Duct size. Help.** *(in Appliances)*

New construction. 36" 6 burner Wolf rangetop.
Recieved quote for my 42" Modernaire Stainless hood with exterior Abbaka blower. Two 90 degree turns in run, about 12 ft out to exterior wall. I noticed on the quote it read 1000 CFM.
Wait....originally the gal told my KD we needed 1200 CFMs. as did several here. It looks to me like this Abbaka blower has two choices...1000CFMs or 1400 CFMs.
With an external blower a distance away, wouldn't my CFMs have needed go up, not down?
she told my kd that the 10" round duct wouldn't fit in the 12" deep top of the hood so this required dropping down to an 8" duct to fit into the hoodtop, necessitating lower CFMs. This can not be right.
i had a screwed up, inadequate vent in my last house. A beautiful wood mantle hood that was totally, absolutely worthless. I just want to get this one right.
Begging for help here. Builder is all over my arse wanting to get their prepped.
Thank you.

A: Either ModernAire didn't understand the question or your KD did not understand the answer. As a distributor for Modernaire hoods in 22 US states, I can assure you a 12" depth top will accommodate a 10" round duct.

**Q: Modernaire PS-26 hood help** *(in Appliances)*

My kitchen designer has never used a modernaire hood and is working with a source that I'm not totally confident in? It is the PS-26 that is popular here and I have always loved.
My stacked cabinets are inset and the uppers are 13" deep vs. 12" deep. KD thinks we may need to make the top of the hood custom at 13" instead of standard at 12" to accommodate the 13" deep uppers. I will if it is needed, but I just want to make sure.
If a customer has 13" deep uppers, does that require the custom hood in this style be made at 13" depth vs the standard 12"?
How do other customers handle this dilemma?
Here is my wall.
please check this for me if you know. Thank you.
Here is the hood

A: If you go from 12" depth to 13" you wont notice the difference. I would always go with a 1200 cfm Blower.

**Q: Hood Fight** *(in Appliances)*

In this corner, weighing in at $2079, we have a Best by Broan Classico 36" hood with a depth of 24" and a 1200 cfm external roof mounted blower.
In the other corner, weighing in at $2599, we have a Modern Aire PS1018 36" hood with a depth of 27" and a 1200 cfm internal blower.
Keeping either of these two busy will be a 36" Blue Star RNB 6 burner range, BETWEEN TWO WINDOWS - NO UPPER CABINETS.
Who you got?

A: Opaone, firstly I know nothing about fluid dynamics. I am 100% sure that your good self and kaseki would have my head spinning and a blank look on my face within minutes of a conversation beginning in person. I will agree that a in general commercial hoods are better, but your numbers of smoke and grease missed by a Modernaire hood is so far off the make.

What I do know is the following.
1\) You will not find one single compliant on this forum or any other that suggests that a MondernAire hoods performance is anything but excellent.
2\) After selling MondernAire Hoods for 8 years mainly above Bluestar and Capital open burner ranges, the most powerful residential ranges and rangetops in the USA, which I also sell. I have never had a customer complain to me that it does not remove smoke and grease from said ranges, bearing in mind these units produce 25k btu per burner.
I am sure you would agree an extremely hot plume of smoke and heavy grease from multiple burners is created. Which is removed more than satisfactorily according to owners, further Bluestar and Capital ranges are renowned for the ability to wok cook, again producing more than the average plume of hot smoke and grease on a regular basis.
3\) I had 7 MondernAire units in my cooking school (Eurostoves) in Boston for over 8 years, and in that time never had an issue with the removal of only 50%, 40% or 30% of smoke and grease, or a complaint from customer using the cooking school only compliments.
We had the cooking school running 13 years, in the school we only used residential ranges (Capital, & Bluestar for the main) and residential hood in the school, 4 x 48" ranges , 2 x 36" ranges and 1 x 60" range. We spent $$$$ on residential hoods, VaH, faber, zephyr, Independent, Broan and Best and so on that simply did not work for the amount of cooking we did.
It wasn't until we were sent a Modernaire hood to try that we found what worked extremely well in the school and was a unit I could confidently sell to customers across the US, within 4 months ALL the hoods were changed to MondernAire. they were more expensive than any of the failed hoods, further they are harder to sell due to price than cheaper hoods, yet it was the best thing I ever did for customers in the school and customer who purchase Modernaire hoods from us. That in itself tells a story.
With absolutely no disrespect to you at all, and your understanding of fluid dynamics, I feel the difference between this post and your post is real life experiences of the product in real situations.

**Q: First home - Pro Style Range** *(in Appliances)*

I am new to Houzz but understand that I can get great advise here. We are building our first home and the kitchen is the most important room for me. I have never bought a pro-style range but cooking is my passion. I am interested to know what would be the top 5 things to look for when purchasing a range.

A: To be clear your looking for a range, your building a new home and cooking is your passion, so budget for a prostyle range might not be as important to you as it is others. Which means your range can be from NXR - Viking.
To answer what will be i am sure an initial question with many to follow.
--------------
Form the calls I get about ranges the most asked questions in order are as follows.
1\) Surface Burners.
2\) Warranty / Servcie in my area.
3\) A consistent oven
4\) What options are available ie grills or griddles
5\) Fit and finish / looks.

I think this is an interesting question I forward to the answer you get. To see if there is a general consensusof what people look for when buying a pro style range.

**Q: Need Quiet and Effective Hood Liner for 59.25" Lacanche Range** *(in Appliances)*

Good morning. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out which range hood liner would be best over my 59.25" Lacanche Citeaux and I'm hoping you guys can direct me to the best option. The salesman at the appliance store is telling me that the internally mounted VentAHood will be quieter and more effective than an externally mounted Wolf (he sells both). My HVAC/Vent guy says just the opposite. This is part of an addition and the range is on an external side wall of the house so we have mounting options. My current Dacor vent is so loud I cannot hear anyone 5' away when I'm cooking, which makes me feel very isolated! It is also very ineffective so our fire alarm goes off every time I sear a steak! Another issue is with width. The widest Wolf liner PL582212 is 58" although Wolf insists that it is the right size for their 60" range. The VAH has a 66" Premier Magic Lung model BH464PSLD that would be wider than my range by a few inches (actually 64.375"). I don't really fry but I do sear meat. Thanks in advance for your help!

A: I don't think a an internal blower vs remote blower on an outside wall will make any difference to noise level. The reason is the duct run is so short.
If i were to spec this job I would recommend the following options.
1\) Liner @ 58" x 22 1/2" .... Make the cabinet 60" or more wide x 27" deep. Raise the liner up into the hood structure by 4"-6" so the effective capture area is now 60" x 27".... Use a rear venting liner to reduce noise and flow issues - VS - a top vent with an immediate 90 degree turn... Finally keep the woods structure as low as comfort and code will allow.
2\) Buy a 27" deep by 60" wide (or bigger) liner and cover it with you selected finish. following the other points in option 1
