> I am an Orange County Contractor for over 40 years. It's my responsibility to my clients to have a team of professional subcontractors to work with me on my projects. Andy and Valerie at the Olive Mill have always been top-notch 10 Stars in my book! Just can't get any better. Every aspect of the process is as good as anyone can do. So if you are looking for personal attention to your project, search no more... This is not prefabricated, throw it in, and see you later! Custom means custom they are going to build and cut into your UNsquare areas perfectly! All Custom Fabricated in the shop and or on the job site. The most talented team of fabricators and installers I have ever seen, come out to your business and or home to again custom cut, fit and Install your selected material of choice. Anyway, I'm rambling on but, first-rate from A to Z. Expert's in Custom new age, extremely popular Porcelain countertop's, Granite, Corian, Staron, Marble and so on! Thank you, Andy and Valerie, for being so personally invested in your business! Dan

The counters look terrific, the demolition team and installation crew did an ourstandting job in minimizing dust and debris and fitting all pieces with no noticeable seams. I would highly recommend Olive Mills for your next counter project!

> After our cabinet maker had tried a different business for kitchen countertops, which was very unsatisfactory, we requested that he return to Olive Mill who we had used in the past. From the attractiveness and variety of countertop surfaces in the showroom through the installation everything is first class. My contractors and I worked with Valerie and she was very flexible in adjusting to our timelines and, in fact, was able to exceed Olive Mills' commitment date for installation by scheduling the actual installation three days sooner. The measurement and installation staff always arrived on time and were both neat and professional. I would highly recommend them for anyone having countertops installed.

**Comment from Olive Mill:**

> Glad you are enjoying your new LG Viatera quartz countertops. It is a pleasure working with you as well. And as always, thank you for the great review. Valerie

## Community Q&A

**Q: Corian seams - standard install?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Just had Corian rain cloud installed and was surprised that I have two seams. Wasn't mentioned during sale or measure. Fabricator is saying this is standard because of the movement involved in pattern of the material. Anyone had this experience? I fully expected one seam in the corner -- and that's what I had with the janky, off the shelf laminate. To have two seams seems on this install seems a little excessive to me.

They are offering to order more material to recut so that both seams are better matched -- but this will require being home twice for them (once for them to remove countertop; second to have them reinstall) and being without sink/kitchen for a week. Also means I have to pay the plumber to disconnect sink, faucet, disposal and dishwasher and again to reconnect.

A: Darcie, if you need more help let me know.

**Q: Corian Soapstone Quartz - Defective?** *(in Kitchens)*

I just had Corian soapstone look quartz installed. I know people have reported "fingerprint" issues - but the level of fingerprint issue is astounding to me. If I put my hand down for one second(literally), there is a handprint. I can still see a black mark from my forearm 30 minutes ago. I think any bit of oil would stain it permanently! Is this normal? I'm waiting for my call back from Corian warrenty. My fabricator is of no help.

A: Emily A , I have experience with this product. If you would like to contact me I can share. I'm a countertop fabricator/installer in California. The company is Olive Mill and you can email me at andy@olivemill.com .

**Q: Do you want to see pix of CRACKED NEOLITH?** *(in Pools & Spas)*

Fair warning to anyone considering Neolith...I, too, was excited about all of the supposed benefits of this product and spent a lot of time researching what material to use. I absolutely 100% regret the choice of Neolith. It has been a complete nightmare. Many slabs broke just during the transport of the product including those transported and moved by Neolith distributors. That caused huge delays in getting the product fabricated and installed. Then several more slabs broke on the fabricator's table causing more delay and stress. Neolith distributor oversaw the fabrication of the material and trained the installer. Less than one week after installation with ZERO USE or anyone even touching it, we noticed cracking in several places. There is NO REPAIRING this product. It must be completely ripped out and replaced. Neolith, The Size, the distributor, and the fabricator/installer are all blaming each other and saying they each have no responsibility for fixing this project. The fight has been going on for more than a year now with each party pointing the finger at someone else, and I, the customer, who paid thousands of dollars for the project is stuck in the middle having to file law suits just to even get my money back, let alone pay the increased expense of having this failure ripped out and redone...and how on earth could I reinstall this same product after such a terrible experience? The manufacturer will say they will "replace" the product itself but that does not begin to cover the huge expense and time of ripping out and redoing the whole project, nor does it guarantee that the same thing won't happen again. You will continually see the manufacturer say they stand behind the product IF their installation manual is followed and the fabricator is trained, etc...,but RED FLAG warning everyone...that is their legal loophole for providing no guarantee except for possibly replacing the actual product. That is the least expensive part of these fiascos. The distributor will have a similar loophole in their guarantee and the installer/fabricator will blame the product. All in all, it is NOT WORTH IT. Stay away from this mess. Below are pix of the numerous cracks and the seams separate over time making this look even worse. I am only not mentioning specific names of the distributor and fabricator/installer because we are in the middle of legal proceedings. But they are on these threads constantly trying to sell this product. We can not even move on to replacing this mess until the legal aspect has concluded. Save yourself a lot of heartache and use something else. And wish me luck that someone will take responsibility for this failure. Houzz only lets me post four pix but there are many more cracks and separated seams. Don't believe the excuses you will hear from the people making money on all aspects of these projects.

A: Are you purchasing the slabs yourself or is the fabricator/installer buying them?

**Q: MSI Quartz vs. Cambria Quartz** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Help please! Trying to make a decision between MSI Calacutta Verona and Cambria Brittanica or Torquay. I've read everything that I can find about both products, but really would like to hear real life reviews on both! I need to make a decision this week and I'm so torn! From a style perspective, I would be happy with either MSI or Cambria, but I would love to know if the Cambria stone is that much superior to the MSI stone to justify the extra cost. Obviously the price of the MSI products appeal to me, but I don't want a sub-par product. I lean towards the look of the MSI Verona, but I'm concerned about the quality. Can anyone weigh in - especially with actual use information? Thanks so much!

A: We fabricate lots of MSI quartz and it's been great so far. I wouldn't give it another thought, just enjoy your countertop.

**Q: Bianco Drift counter** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is this a honed Quartz?

A: Hello, I believe that is not honed. After checking with their website, the material is not offered in a honed finish. Hope that helps, Andy

**Q: Cost** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the difference in cost between Caeserstone Calcatta Nuvo and Pental quartz calcatta?

A: Hello,
Pental is going to be less. We would need to see your layout and figure the exact number of slabs required before determining what we ultimately be less expensive. The reason being, different companies make different slab sizes so it not just about the square foot cost of the material. It's more about home many slabs are required.
Hope that helps,
Valerie
