Cool Mountain Construction, Inc is owned by Brian and Jenny Brunet. Brian is a licensed N.C. general contractor and has been since 1996. Jenny is a licensed N.C. real estate broker since 1997.
With over 33 years of experience in construction, remodeling, and Real Estate Brian and Jenny have been helping their clients find the perfect location along with award-winning, quality construction of their dream home in the mountains.
Brian started his career in a factory building modular homes in Wisconsin. From there he moved to Seattle where he framed and trimmed homes for 6 years. With his family in Florida and his father becoming ill he moved to Florida and starting framing and worked his way up to a superintendent and then a propjet manager for a large commercial contractor who has built and remodeled country clubs and upscale homes. After having enough of the heat and wanting to raise their 3 boys in the mountains of North Carolina we chose Fairview as our home and have never regretted it.

> We hired Cool Mountain Construction to complete the build of our new home in Fairview. Throughout the 10-month-long process, Brian and his crew were on site every day overseeing the work, supervising the subs, and making sure the project moved along according to our tight schedule. Working within the rules of our HOA was not always easy but they worked diligently to keep the project moving forward. No build is simple, but Brian was always willing to sit down and work through any issues that came up and was always available to address our questions. I would highly recommend Cool Mountain Construction for a home build or renovation!

**★ — HU-700131342, Dec. 2021**

> What we found with Cool Mountain was a company that lacked focus and effort in executing on their promises of quality, communication, and a hands-on custom build experience. It felt as if the harder we pushed for these things that were promised and expected, the more determined they became to let us know they didn’t answer to us.
>
> The lack of concern for quality is evident in their failure to follow up behind their subs. We were left with leaking windows and doors that wouldn’t close. One even had a door handle turned backwards, and yet they were asking us to release the final punch list withholding! Incredibly, 4 months later our windows and doors still are not fixed, yet you can read in their own words on the BBB website in response to my complaint that they are not motivated to fix it. Even more incredibly, mold was growing behind our walls, due to their inaction of fixing the leak and they tried to cover it up—literally. I have video documentation plus confirmation from the restoration expert that I hired. They even acknowledge it in their BBB response (something about not having a ladder). Evidently, that was worth risking our health and home.
>
> My driveway is cracking from settling already and there was never any doubt that it would. I have a stamped evaluation from a geotechnic engineer outlining the improper compaction and fill quality. Cool Mountain reviewed this letter, promised to remediate, then decided they disagreed with the expert and would do nothing despite engaging no experts of their own for rebuttal and also declining my request for an extended warranty. This is where their lack of commitment to customer communication went completely out the window as the owner literally walked away from me during a conversation about the driveway, got in his truck and drove off, then ignored my phone calls for the rest of the project.
>
> We missed the custom home building experience as evidenced by a change notice that required a second site meeting to rehash after the super forgot what we discussed during the first. They did finally provide a quote, cash the check, then failed to perform the work. We were also informed some of our lighting choices were discontinued only to call the store ourselves and find out they were still available. We were told our shower tile was unavailable, only to pick out new tile and then see the original selection magically show up with no further explanation.
>
> At project completion, they invoiced us over $2500 for items that were builder cost. The kicker is the written communication where they state their refusal to be challenged to complete their punch list on time, and the voice mail they left my wife (still have it) accusing me of being angry because they assume I’m a drunk. The only mistake they have ever admitted is when they put up the wrong interior trim. No “sorry” for anything else. Our experience with them will never be forgotten and has provided us with a plethora of stories to tell for years to come.

> We cannot say enough good things about Brian and his team at Cool Mountain Construction. We interviewed several builders in the area before coming to the Cool Mountain office. From the first time we walked in the door we felt welcomed and knew we could trust the Brunet's. They priced out a couple house plans before we agreed on the best one for our budget. Throughout the whole process, the Cool Mountain Construction team was professional, conducted themselves with integrity, were completely transparent with our budget, and listened to our requests and concerns. I had very specific design requests and they were happy to accommodate all my aesthetic ideas. When something couldn't work or fell outside of our budget, they communicated the issue fully so that we could come to a compromise. We moved in 6 weeks ago and could not be happier with our home! Extra special thanks to Brian, Jenny, and Robbie- this is a great company with even better people. We would recommend Cool Mountain Construction to any prospective buyer in the Asheville area.

**★★★★★ — Brian Gleason, Oct. 2018**

> My wife and i moved from New York to North Carolina and decided to by land and build. This was a new experience for us and came with not a small amount of anxiety. We bought the land we now live on from Cool Mtn. and subsequently had them construct our new home as well. Whenever you build a new house there are a thousand moving parts. So, if you expect perfection you will never be satisfied. But when you step back and look at the totality, Cool Mountain gave us a beautiful house. The construction is super solid and the aesthetics are exactly what we wanted. While budgeting is a challenge (there are always upgrades outside ones price range), it was all pretty clear and up front. Whenever there was some confusion we would sit down with Jenny & Brian and resolve it. We've been in our new place over a year and are very happy with it.

> From start to finish, everyone at Cool Mountain Construction made building our house an exciting and painless process.
> We got the house we’ve always wanted in the community were we have lived and loved since 2008.
> Thank you Brian, Jenny and Robbie!

> Cool Mountain Construction built my first and last custom home! My wife and I decided to downsize into a smaller home, but wanted custom construction and features found in larger custom homes. Not only did Cool Mountain Construction build my house but they sold me on their small neighborhood (Forget Me Not Meadows). Two years later and now seeing the last house built in our neighborhood, I must say I am pleased with the result. I will not say that there were no bumps along the way, but Cool Mountain Construction was responsive and have been there along the way to make sure that both our house and the neighborhood lived up to the vision my wife & I shared prior to deciding to contract Brian & Jenny Brunet. Our house turned out exactly like we hoped for! Quality materials , construction, and a beautiful house! Cool Mountain especially delivered on the rustic woodwork & stone fireplace & porches that give give both a craftsman appearance & rustic charm. Perfect for that Appalachian mountain vibe! The house has turned out to be very energy efficient and cozy all year round. Overall I feel like Cool Mountain builds a quality house that is affordable, but not cheap and they are worth considering if you are building in the Asheville NC area.

**★★★★ — Ronald Roby, April 2016**

> Cool Mountain took a rough set of drawings and created a master piece. Never could we have envisioned the means by which Brian and his staff implemented what was conceived by us and carried to completion by us. It has been 8 years since we took occupancy and yet each day we marvel at the beauty created by Cool Mountain. If and when we build again, they get the job!

**Comment from Cool Mountain Construction, Inc.:**

> Thanks for taking the time to review us. Hopefully we'll have this home sold soon because we're excited to start on your new project soon.

**★★★★★ — gwilson4nc, April 2016**

> The people from Cool Mountain Construction built our house like they would be living in it. They helped us make the best decisions and worked through all aspects of making it a great home. Above and beyond all expectations!

**★★★★★ — jeancwhite, April 2015**

> My husband and I were enormously pleased to find Cool Mountain Construction. Bryan and his team of true professionals built us a beautiful contemporary home in Fairview NC. He worked closely with us down to the last detail which after building several times before was not always the case. We would absolutely call on Cool Mountain Construction should we ever build again.
