We are painting the exterior SW Requisite Gray, probably with white trim (unless you tell me that's a horrible idea). There is a large sliding glass door to the left of the double door entry. I'd like to keep that private and not viewable from the street. Specifically, would love suggestions on paint colors, doors, lighting, landscaping, and entry. The left side is also a mystery to me. There are no windows, just a stone flower bed...I am at a loss there. I don't know what to do about any of the stone. Budget is $2k-5k (besides paint which I am budgeting separately). A: I would reccomend painting the walls Edgecombe Gray by Benjamin Moore, its a great universal color that works with grays and beige and the stone in your walls. **Q: Carrera mosaic backsplash** *(in Design Dilemma)* Just curious if anyone had pictures of carrera mosaic backsplash. We are doing a white kitchen and I've attached a picture of our flooring and calacutta Vicenza quartz countertop. When I've shown people our mosaic backsplash, we get a lot of resistance to it. Wondering if it's too on trend?? Otherwise I thought of doing marble subway tile. A: With the grain in your floor and then the countertop I think a mosaic marble for a back splash will look a little too much. The general rule is to have no more than one patterned fixed element, that would be your countertop, unless you use the same tile in your back splash I would suggest using a gray subway tile, it will add a bit of relief to the marble and the white. **Q: Color Recommendations for Painting Brick, Trim, Shutters/Door** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hello! I am in need of color recommendations for painting the exterior of our brick colonial. The current brick color is an odd 1970's shade (yellow hue) that we are eager to make more appealing to future buyers. The dilemma is that we are in need of color combinations that will compliment the flagstone front walkway and the weird red/brown roof shingles. All suggestions welcomed!! Your roof color will determine what the best color for your shutters would be. I can only see a small amount but it looks like an earthy red color, choose more earthy tones for the shutters and a pop of color on the front door **Q: Best SW white to go with SW 7556 Creme Walls?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Would like a white to use on trim, crown, and fireplace that would go with SW Crème. Looking for a contrast and one without gray tones as Crème has a slight yellow tint. SW 7006 Extra White or SW 7005 Pure White? I like BM Simply White but thought it would be easier for painter to go with same supplier when purchasing paint for both walls & trim and I understand that SW can't really color match BM colors. A: If you are going to mix cream and white together make sure that you repeat it somewhere in the room so it looks like an obvious color decision. The main problem with adding a bright white to a cream yellowy color is that it can make the white look a bit gray. SW 7005 Pure White, SW7008 Alabaster or SW7004 Snowbound are all off-whites and will great with Creme, better than a bright white. **Q: Need help deciding exterior color for our 80's house. Advice?** *(in Design Dilemma)* A: I am assuming that the wooden siding is staying as well - when choosing your color look for colors with a beige undertone towards the red side rather than a white undertone.
