Colleen Ferguson Design is a Calgary based design studio focused on high-end residential contemporary design. I work with builders, contractors, and homeowners, helping my clients select interior and exterior finishes (flooring, paint, cabinets, countertops, lighting, furniture, stone, stucco etc. for a variety of new build and custom renovation projects.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed about the overall design or choosing finishes for your new house or custom renovation, I hear you! Many clients find the process overwhelming. You are not alone. It’s the number one statement I hear, residential design in general, including, choosing cabinets, flooring, countertops, lighting, paint, etc. is what I love to do. I get excited to see my clients get excited about their new space, and you getting excited about your new space means you can leave all those anxious feelings behind you.

For me, it’s not just about creating a beautiful space, (although that is very important to me), it’s about how that space makes you feel about you, your family and how it reflects your unique style(s).

I would love to help you bring your design dreams to life!

> I have been working with Colleen for a few months now on a major home renovation. I have worked with other designers in the past, but none made me feel as though they really heard me and fully understood who I am , or what I needed for my personal space. Colleen "got" me right away and always remembers my expressed preferences and needs. Working with her has been very relaxing and fun! Colleen is the most talented, creative and resourceful person I have ever met and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Definitely give yourself the pleasure of meeting her as you consider your design needs!

 - Description: The ultimate Man Cave! One of my favourite projects with Rockcreek Builders!! Together we collaborated to create a unique one of a kind "garage-mahal" as friend described it, to house his vintage cars, trucks, motorcycles and collector items. A lot of custom work went into this space. We designed the raw metal barn doors, shower glass partition and the glass partition into the office. Custom faucets, cabinets and shelving.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Picture** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love this version of Birds On A Wire - can you please tell me where you bought it or who the artist is?

A: Hi sarahjoy99 I'm sorry I don't have an artist name, the piece was third party purchased.

**Q: where can I buy the hard wood and what species of wood.** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Shirley, this is white oak and can be purchased through Divine Flooring. It is called Hunter and is from the Cosmopolitan Collection https://www.divinefloor.com/products/details/?id=323&cid=2

**Q: What is the colour of spindles on rail and supplier Please.** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Shirley, the client chose the spindles and rail with the builder, I don't know the supplier off the top of my head by I will see if I can find out for you!

**Q: What paint colour on walls and trim and what woood flooring and what c** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Shirley, The wall paint is Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter HC-172 and the base & case are painted Benjamin Moore Decorators White CC-20.

**Q: Bathroom tile choices** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have picked a few tiles out for a zen theme but love the feminine white marble square style a lot. I would like one wall with this tile my bathroom is small and is the last room we need to upgrade in this newly purchased home. Can you help the white tileswill be in the shower, grey flooring with ?? Pebble stone on shower floor. That white with beigh stone is my dilemma. What wall would it look best in?

A: I'd say in this case less is more. Because the space is smaller I would stay away from too many elements as it will get too busy. I would keep the same tile on the main part of the floor the same for the shower wall, this will make the space feel more open if you choose to go with the white marble you mentioned. Aside from that you will need some form of mosaic for the shower and the pebble is a fine option, please keep in mind that all natural stone products need to be sealed (yearly at least in wet spaces) so if you don't mind the additional maintenance I would say go for it. If you would prefer to avoid maintenance there are many porcelain and ceramic options that look like marble without needing to be sealed. And make sure to test out what sealer you want on your stone, some are color enhancing while others are not :)

**Q: Need help selecting a backspash for my kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm planning to instal dark cabinets with this granite but not sure what backsplash will match this combination. Need some suggestions for the backsplash. Thanks

A: I would go with a light subway tile, very light grey, off white, or matte white is very nice. Glass subway tiles would be an option as well depending on the look you are going for.
