> Contractor Took Our Money and Didn’t Finish the Job

> Avoid DC Construction at all costs. This has been one of the most frustrating and unprofessional experiences I’ve ever had with a contractor.
>
> We hired him for multiple projects — many of which were delayed or never completed. We paid in full, including for a ceiling that was never installed. He later claimed he couldn’t find anyone to do the job and offered a “discount,” but never gave us an itemized invoice, despite repeated requests.
>
> The deck he built started falling apart in less than a month. Boards are popping up, the steps bend when you step on them, and he used the wrong nails. He promised to return and fix it, but never showed — even after we took time off work to be there.
>
> He also left behind concrete debris, made a mess of the job site, and refused to clean up after himself.
>
> We reached out to Thumbtack for assistance to get him to return or refund us — no response. When we finally made contact, he told us flat-out: he has the money and that’s it.
>
> At this point, it feels like we were scammed. He took our money and didn’t complete the work. From a distance the work looks fine, but up close it’s rushed and sloppy.

> Do not hire this contractor. He is unreliable, dishonest, and does not stand by his work. You will end up paying for the job twice — once to him, and again to a real professional to fix the mess he left behind.
