It’s so badly out of square that we need to take it all down and quickly find a replacement. Terrible quality tile. With handcrafted tile, it's typical to use 1/8" grout lines to compensate for the variation. The tiles are beautiful. There were about 35 tiles that weren't made with the original order. They said it didn't pass quality control and had to be remade before everything was shipped. When we received the tiles, we laid them out. About 30 tiles were a darker shade than the rest. Some of the tiles had bubbles, dirt marks, white marks, etc. I think when you order handmade tiles, this can happen so I'm glad I ordered 10% over. I would have thought they would have done a much better job if they came closer to matching what I was expecting the color to look--the same as the sample from the store which matches the first batch of tiles produced. I was told when I placed the order, Sonoma Tilemakers charges the store a fee for packaging the tiles for shipment, which I, the customer have to pay for. **★★★★★ — Sarah Nutt, April 2023** > We love working with Sonoma Tilemakers. The matte black surfaces is warbly wonderful, and we positioned the tiles in an irregular pattern instead of straight. It is an immediate attention getter! We used the darkest charcoal gray color in the Custom grout deck, and there still manages to be enough color contrast to show the individual tiles without looking too busy. We ordered the Stellar tiles for our backsplash, they came in a significantly different color than the sample (both the designer and showroom agreed that it was too different to be attributed to "custom" tile. Sonoma sent out new samples with the most recent colors (unfortunately during the summer when we are out of the country). Upon our return, we chose from the "new" colors and now Sonoma says it has been too long, they are not going to send any new samples of the most recent colors and are refusing to fulfill the order. The designer believes that these are no long custom, that they are making them in batches and using less color to save costs and is truly shocked at the lack of customer service!! They have been paid in full, so contractually they are obligated to fulfill the order imo. I am so thankful that we kept the original sample until our order was received. Apparently, Sonoma is in cost-cutting mode and is using much less color on their custom tiles which completely changes the color. They are trying to say that the color difference is because it is a custom order and fortunately our designer completely agrees with us and has contacted the store as well. > We can no longer recommend this manfacturer (pethaps they have been purchased by one of the larger manufacturers and no longer adhere to the original quality standards. So very disappointing - all we want is for them to re-do the tiles to ensure they match the original sample (and the picture on their website!!) Our products are hand sprayed, which does produce variation from piece to piece. This is part of the beauty of handcrafted tile. If your sample does not match the order you received, we highly recommend that you bring it back to the authorized dealer where you purchased the tile so that we can review the sample and the order and resolve any issues.
