My brother in law is a brick maison and can stone over our ugly brick. I was told by a designer to just paint instead of using stone but I am not sure I like the idea of paint. Plus if we stone it I can get rid of that awful crown molding and stone right up to the ceiling. Is stone a dated look? I thought stone was timeless? I have been looking for a stone that I would like but have been having a difficult time. I think I found one(see below) but can I go with a grayish stone and keep my Mesa Verede Tan(dark taupe) walls? We would also be painting the doors a rubbed oil bronze. A: I vote for the stone as well! **Q: Paint or stain??** *(in Design Dilemma)* Would you paint or stain this trellis? It's solid cedar, hanging over our garage Windows. We have no immediate plans to plant anything on/over the trellis. Either paint white or the same custom stain as our front door ( dark grey/almost black)? A: I would paint them the same as the front door. Beautiful home! **Q: New home, new dilemmas!!** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi!!! I am having a hard time finding a chandelier for my family room - I think it needs to be about 40 inches in diameter but I can't figure out what would be too much or too little in the space since it's open. I also want to replace the builder entry light - do they need to match or just be similar in style? I was thinking a latern style for the entry. I'm trying to achieve a modern rusric look :-). Any ideas or pictures of ones you have loved I would love and appreciate the help!!! Thank you!! also, I will be replacing the sofa (came from our old home where it fit perfectly) I want to replace with may be 1 sofa or small sectional against the window and then 2 chairs either facing the windows or facing the tv. The TV will be hung up as soon as I get someone out to cover up the surround sound plates :-) A: Beautiful new home! I was also thinking a large fan would be a good idea. If you are not into a fan I would go with a very large chandelier. The entry chandelier and living room chandelier do not need to match. I would just choose a light fixture that has the same metal color. **Q: Backsplash** *(in Design Dilemma)* Help! Can't decide. Which one? I want a contemporary style. A: I like the first best!
