> Amazing!
>
> Working with Tally Stevens was a joy. He is extremely knowledgeable and worked hard behind the scenes to find several amazing slabs of Patagonia Granite for our main island. His eye for color and detail was a major asset with this and all of the other countertops / desktops for our new home.
>
> The fabrication and installation were topnotch. We had a few tweaks at the end that could have been stressful, but the team took care of these with much love and care.
>
> Thank You for giving our new home a lot of beauty!

**★★★★★ — Henderson Development, Feb. 2017**

> We worked with European on a 4 unit high end condo project in Park City. European has the most unique stone in UT and their designers and fabricators are top notch. Highly recommend. We used a range of products from marbles to lumix to onyx, quartzite and caesarstone and all was done incredibly well.

**Comment from European Marble & Granite:**

> Kirsten, it was an absolute pleasure working with you on this project! And the pictures look amazing! Thank you for sharing them with us!

**★★★★★ — User, Sept. 2016**

> I have worked with European for over twelve years as a designer and I can honestly say they are the best in the business. If a client wants the best in unique countertop selections, and the best in fabrication and install, European is the only choice.

**★★★★★ — John Stennis, July 2016**

> As an architect we have worked on a few Projects with European and have been happy with the results. They are responsive to our questions and when issues do arise with installation they are quick to correct any defects without question.

**★★★★★ — Design Hintz Interior Design, Aug. 2014**

> I absolutely love working with European Marble and Granite. Their staff is beyond knowledgeable and so helpful in finding the perfect stone or tile for your project.
>
> In the kitchen and bathroom I just remodeled for a client, their sales rep suggested that we do a honed finish in the kitchen to help mute the gold tones in the Golden Lighting Quartzite that was selected; honing hadn't even crossed my mind. They even honed a sample piece for me to take to my client to show him the difference between honed and polished. Not every granite company will go to the trouble and to literally wait 2 minutes while they ran to the back to prepare the sample for me, that's great service.
>
> Working on the same project I solicited the help of their resident Tile expert to help select the perfect backsplash, floor and shower tile. The woman knows her stuff! She suggested creating a custom blend of stone and glass from one of their vendors to make the fireplace surround and kitchen range backsplash pop. It turned out beautifully and the client couldn't be happier. It is truly wonderful to work with a staff of people that care about what they're doing and who the end client is.

**★★★★★ — Sidney McGee, July 2013**

> I have used European Marble and Granite when remodeling one kitchen, one laundry room and five bathrooms. Every time they were professional, on time, and did a very good job at both large and small projects. I have recommended them to several friends and plan to use them again in the future.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Ikea quartz countertop** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I just had my ikea kitchen installed, white grimslov cabinets and I plan on some kind of white tile backsplash but can't decide if the Nougat quartz or the Ocean Foam would look better.

Does anyone have either one of these and your thoughts? The are very similar, but the OF looks like the quartz pieces are just more finely ground than the Nougat.

Any pictures would be helpful too. They gave me a sample of the Nougat but didn't have any of the other.
Thanks!

A: Pay for someone to install them.
You won't believable how breakable a slab is! Once installed the material is great, but when its loose all sorts of things can damage it.
Plus professionals are called professionals for a reason. They have the right tools, trucks, and bonding adhesive. Also from my 15 years of experience no wall or cabinet is every straight. A professional will come to your house and measure. Then the counters will be cut so that they are a perfect fit! When they bring them to your home the installer will adjust them to make up for any unevenness in your cabinets.

**Q: Fireplace - how do I update this without painting the oak hearth?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

A: The arched shape of the surround is a large part of making it look "outdated." When you change the stone be sure to also change the shape!
Neutral colors are always the best. I love the mix of cool and warm colors of the ledger stone in the picture that Glo shared. The size of the stone will be too large for your space but try to find something in those tones.
Best of luck!

**Q: Sad Mantle** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Colonial home, traditional decor. I have no clue how to decorate the mantle in my 2 story family room, because there is a window above it (pic attached). Any thoughts? TIA.

A: Larger items are always better. I would opt for tall candle sticks. Just keep in mind when you are selecting items to keep them more on the solid side then on the spindly side.
I love the prior suggestions about adding greenery. That will help soften the overly- consistent look of the windows.

**Q: Bathroom remodel for kids/guest bathroom.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are updating the yellow bathroom in our new house. Our plan is to reglaze the yellow bathtub white along with the yellow tiles. The tiles also go along the entire room about halfway up the wall.
We plan to put in vinyl flooring - either dark wood color or light grey (advice on this please!!)
I also need help/advice with choosing the color for the new vanity. White vs. Espresso???? For the cabinets.
I want the top and sinks to be white or white with some flecks of greys.
For the wall color I would love to do a deep blue like Benjamin Moore Blue Suede shoes or Athens blue. Trim is white.
What would look better - an espresso vanity or white vanity?
Will a white vanity be too much white with the white tiles? Or should I go white because of the dark color for the walls??
Also, what color for the flooring??
Please advise!!!!
Thank you!!

A: I think a medium wood-colored floor and the espresso vanity would be very timeless. Grays are on their way out and colors are moving back to more warm tones.
By keeping most of your color on the painted walls you can easily update your room depending on changing style.

**Q: Got our first draft of our kitchen design, what do you all think?** *(in Remodeling)*

Hello everybody,

We are at the start of our kitchen remodel and just got the first draft of what our designer is proposing. He is more of an architect than designer because we needed more input when it came to structural since we are removing some load bearing walls.

The original layout of the room (walls being taken down) are highlighted in red. Right now the laundry room is the whole bottom left had section of the drawing so we wanted to make that smaller and use more of that space.

To me he is using too much space around the island and I think we can make that area 4' in clearance instead of 4'6". I also think the island is too big and moves too much into the dining area. We only wanted seating for 2-3 in the island in the kitchen and not as much as he is showing or proposing. I'm also thinking I want the dishwasher in the island instead of directly next to the refrigerator because the way he is showing it there would be absolutely zero space between the dw and the fridge. We have a pantry already in the hallway so the proposed pantry cabinet isn't needed and will probably be a built in wine fridge.

Any input and or questions are greatly appreciated!

A: Depending on where you are buying your cabinets they may have an in-house kitchen designer who can help you with the layout. Usually there is a small fee, in the $150-$200 range. Some other cabinet companies offer their design services for free.
Beverly's drawing turns the whole space into an open floor plan that any family would love. Use it as a starting point and just work with the cabinet company designer to make sure your specific needs and wishes are met.
best of luck!

**Q: Which chandelier?** *(in Polls)*

I realize this is all very taste specific, but I'm going to lean on you all anyway.
New construction, so no photos of the space.
14x14 dining room. 10ft ceiling. I have a simple circle coffered ceiling thing planned.
I want an 8ft rectangular table, probably more the farmhouse style.
Chandelier should have symmetry that echoes square shape of room and the ability to cast a lot of light, but other than that I do not mind mixing and matching styles. I few chandeliers I am drawn to seem to be 36" vs conventional wisdom of 14+14=28" chandelier. Can that be overcome?
And, what do you think of these two options?
And, any LED lights that you think could kill it in this space?
Thank you as always!

Laila Chandelier

A: Will the whole style of the house be farmhouse or just the table?
