It is appreciated, and rare, when a builder/GC recognizes the value an interior designer can bring to a project. And because of the architectural background of the project manager, Justin Walton, our communication was very smooth and quick to resolve important details like the curbless shower floor and finish options for a soapstone counter. > > Because our office is located out of town, we were mailed actual samples to speed up the decision-making process for the materials palette- from raw steel to wood species for cabinets, and stain colors on reclaimed wood and exposed beams. > > We would be happy to partner with Element Construction again. Mike, the owner, told us at our first meeting that he would rather we be happy than he make money. We were skeptical... and we were wrong. Their level of professionalism, both in doing the work themselves and in working with subs, was unmatched. They are calm, experienced, patient, perfectionistic (in the good way), and excellent communicators. If something was wrong, Justin often had a plan in place to fix it before we even realized it was wrong. They were also attentive to our budget and kept in constant communication with us about it. Our home is well-made and beautiful, and it is in great measure due to Element Construction. We worked with Element for 18+ months, with many meetings and hundreds of emails-- it's practically a marriage. We are finalizing our decision for finish type and product of our new reclaimed pine floors and love the look of these. Thanks! A: These were oily pine floors so the finish was a little different. It took a shellac layer to seal the oil. Typically this look would be best achieved with a number of oil coats. All heart pine takes oil differently, so it may take a number of coats. **Q: Who makes great curtains that are inexpensive but look fabulous?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: Calico Corners is good. **Q: What kind of window trim is that** *(in Photo Questions)* A: This was 5/4 pine to match the original house. **Q: Dimensions Please** *(in Photo Questions)* You already indicated about 10 x 11 on this closet -- May I ask please that you vderify? Does this include a finish basement? Thanks for any info! A: Glad you like it! The house was about 3000sf to start. We added a 2 story, ~650sf addition plus about 500sf in the attic. So total when finished was around 4150sf. We didn't finish any basement space. Thought about it, but the old foundation wasn't on footings and it brought up too many issues to dig it down. **Q: Trim Color** *(in Photo Questions)* What paint color & sheen was used on the trim? Thanks! A: My painter used a Sherwin Williams trim paint that I like. It's a semi-gloss paint that has a nice build-up.
