Andy offered much needed input regarding shower tile placement and joints so that the end result is balanced and attractive. He made a lovely sloped corner bench and a useful niche. He even painted the exposed sides of shower tile so the sides blend when viewed from the sink area - something that I would never have thought of. He installed glass tile on the kitchen backsplash with lots of cutting around outlets and switches. Tile placement is perfect, with little or no breakage. Do you find you have any issues with water damage to your window? Thanks! Rhea A: HI- The window is a vinyl window, and we waterproofed it as if it were the outside of a house, using waterproof tile membrane instead of the bituthane self-adhesive membrane you would use outside. The "wood" trim is actually fypon engineered lumber (mostly plastic, and unaffected by moisture) On similar windows where water sat stagnant, we have used vinyl blinds or glass "shutters" to shed water sucessfully. --- *Source: Houzz professional profile.
