**Q: Fireplace dilemma !! Help** *(in Design Dilemma)*

What should I do wish this fire place ? Paint it white ? Or what? I don't care for this color . I was thinking to put a huge wood beam across it . But first the color .. This dining area is shared with the kitchen . So basically it's in my kitchen . To the left is the fridge .

**Q: Living room help!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Never posted here! We just recently moved into a house from a condo. I have a large space and not sure what to do with it. We painted the wall navy, and I plan to mount the TV and hang art around it. I just bought the rug, and the two couches have to stay. The accent chair (complete with laundry, sorry) will be going in favour of something more mid-century modern at some point, as will the side tables, to be replaced with ... I don't know yet! Can someone help me figure out what to do about a coffee table? (This one is stumping me because of the couch with the chaise ottoman...) Or help me with design ideas for this space? I am drawn to mid-century modern, rustic, and somewhat industrial photos, so I think I need more clean lines, etc. Help!!
PS I also have 4 year olds, so it is a family friendly space.

A: You need a big beautiful square ottoman where everyone can put their feet an the twins can lounge! Practical fabric or leather.

**Q: Countertop colours.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Trying to choose a countertop for this kitchen. Would prefer Quartz. Any ideas?

A: You are lucky, you have a very neutral palette so you could go with many different colors. Quartz would be nice and practical. If you are planning to sell your home, you should keep things quiet and stay in the warm palette that coordinates with your wood tones. If you are never moving, go find your dream counter top as well as a beautiful back splash that would go from counter top to upper cabinet bottoms! A very dark top would blend with the stove top and visually would seem like you have more length. (Not cut up by light surface and dark surface). Consider an under counter stainless sink while you are at it and a beautiful new faucet. . .

This is my granite !! What cabinets would you put with these besides white and what backsplash ??!

A: If you have a Ben Moore store near you, look at the CSP colors. Leave your dining room alone. Kitchen color should not be grey. Something that looks great with the wood (not contrasting) and a lighter value. A color you look good wearing!

**Q: New place!!!  Please help me decorate my condo living room** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello,
I finally got my own place!  Unfortunately decorating is not my strong suit, therefore I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to decorate my living room?  I would like to get some lamps, pillows, pictures, rug, new curtains, and anything else that anyone thinks would look good in this space.  I can also move furniture, such as the bookshelf, to a different room if need be.

A: Adding a large rug (many people make the mistake of putting a rug that is too small) and taking out that bookcase will really improve the room, however if there are a few beautiful books in there, you could put them on the cocktail table. Lamps would be an easy next step. Your current dining chairs could be charming if you paint them black (use and oil base paint!) Add a lovely plant or vase on the table. I sometimes leave the table beautifully set and you are instantly ready for the next meal!
