I used my own contractor but used Ric for the vanity and the purchase of the countertop from RocTops. Ric is the best as I have used his expertise to also remodel my kitchen and powder room using Showplace products. From measurement to selection of the cabinet the job was a success. Ric gives personal service and makes sure the customer is 100% satisfied. The cabinet was exactly as ordered and flaw free. The contractor said it fit perfectly and was solidly constructed of maple wood. We used the pecan stain and after all the finishing touches were done, we would use Ric again. We are moving into a new space and the "Great Room" aka Living room is 24 feet long and 12 feet wide. We wanted to utilize this space as a living room & an office space by wanted to get feed back on lay out advice! Thank you in advance :) (Attached a floor plan picture to help!) A: Hello - I see a couple ways that this can be done. For the Office area I would utilize some of natural light by a window. My home office is located to the left of a window with part of the right side of the desk under the window. I would but bookshelves on each side of the window that is centered to the room on the wall opposite of the Master Bedroom wall. I would then set the desk centered about 36" between the bookcase and seating side of the desk. Have the desk face towards the Master Bedroom wall. I would also use cabinets to make up the componets of the desk & bookcase. I would make sure that you have 36" of walkway between the walls and the desk to the left and right of the desk. This would give you about a 72" desk. Also make a knee wall behind the desk to run needed electric boxes. Make the kneewall somewhere between 36" to 40" high. I would then set a couch facing the master bedroom wall with the back of the couch to the kneewall and utilize the kneewall for any electric that would be needed for the couch side. This also allows room for extra seating in the remaining area of the great room. This layout can also utilize the seating at the kitchen top overhang when friends and family members are visiting for some type of gathering. I would put a flat screen tv on the matster bedroom wall, and all electronics needed for the cable box, stereo, and surround sound system. I hope this helps **Q: What is the type of countertop and backsplash??** *(in Photo Questions)* A: I just checked to see if I put the top information with the project here on Houzz and I was correct in the stone color. It is Gallio Ornamental. One thing to point out to you. When you go to visit your local stone fabricator they may call it a different name. Hope this helps you. **Q: Kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)* How do you determine kitchen flooring, cabinets, and counters? A: There are all kinds a rules and ways that people feel is the correct way to chose your items. My rule of thumb is to start with your cabinet colors first. That is going to be the primary color of your kitchen. Then start from the floor up to the ceiling.. Look for the type of flooring & floor color you would like next for it will be in most cases your next promanate color in the room. I would then work on the countertops, then the backsplashes, then the paint color of the room. There really is no right way or wrong way. Just figure out what you want as your main color of the kitchen then work off of that. In the case of this kitchen you asked about the flooring below. The homeowner wanted to have some contrast so she went with a lighter countertop for contrast, and looked for some of the colors in her backsplash tile, flooring, and cabinets as accent colors in her granite color. **Q: What's the flooring and where from?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: Hello - The home owners went and chose there own flooring.
