Shorty after I met her, I had the pleasure of seeing "before" and "after" photos of some of her projects, just beautiful! > Several years later I needed torelocat to care for my mother who had had a stroke. The house we moved into had wide doorways and was one level, that was great as it would accommodate the medical equipment she needed. Moving day came and furniture was delivered and then the whole house felt like total chaos, and I lived with it for a while. One day I remembered the photos of Anne's work, I called her and gratefully she was willing to help and travel over 200 miles to do it! > Anne arrived and we talked about needs: as much natural light as possible; that mom and I loved nature ... very important; if possible, create a space that felt comforting, cheerful and full of life. Then the first step happened!!! Where I saw an awkwardly designed floor plan for the family/living area, which is where we would had been and would be spending a lot of time, Anne saw solutions, and brilliant they were. The first thing she and her helper did was moved all the furniture ... and with that one change, I breathed a sigh of relief. She is a master at placement. Next ... selection of rugs and lighting, what a great selection of samples she was able to provide to help me make choices. When we started to select paint .. that part made me a little nervous, which she picked up on. She was off to the paint store and returned with several small containers of paint and immediately applied in large enough sections to have a good idea of what the finished product would look like ... and she is a genius at selecting just the right color paint. Next came selection and placement of accessories :-) My favorite ... she found the original large railroad station sign for our town in the some of the things from my mom's house, and while I was busy doing something she had hung the station sign above the mantel ... when mom and I saw it ... we were thrilled .. It was stunning! I marveled at her attention to even the smallest details. She helps choose paint colors, flooring, cabinetry, counters; whatever you need help with. While she doesn't actually paint your walls or install cabinetry, she does help rearrange furniture and accessories, hang pictures, etc. She works with what you already have to make the room flow nicely, look inviting and feel comfortable. If you need accent pieces or other furniture, upholstery, flooring, etc., she recommends bargain stores and will go shopping with you if desired. A: Hi, I checked with my client re the Bulls head. She ordered it from a catalog and can not remember which one. I did a little research, however, and found several sources online. Try typing in Bulls head wall hanging and browse! Good luck! **Q: Win $200. LA home, in Hip Neighborhood needs help** *(in Design Dilemma)* 1977 blah stucco home in a neighborhood with 12, $3+ million dollar modern mansions going up. The roof needs to be replaced, so we have a lot of opportunity Contemporary, Spanish, Ranch, Coastal Plantation etc etc. Home is just off the Uber hip Melrose Ave between Fairfax and La Brea, so it has to be cool. Painting window frames is an option. Best idea(s) win $200 Amazon gift card. Don't worry, architect already hired, nobody is losing work. But no architect has every great idea, maybe that's you! A: o.k. I see. At least make the garage doors the exact same color of the house so they 'disappear'. Perhaps add an emblem of some kind on or above them to keep the space from being blank or uninteresting. I would still remove the fancy ironwork and replace with simple. Thank you for your response!
