Designers eye needed!** *(in Design Dilemma)* I need help with three separate things. 1\) Trim around our front door (we live in a sugar maple split and our style is craftsman/country) I don't want cliche though. Enough to dress it up and make it look clean. Max is four inches around each way. I love when the molding wings out but we could only do it on one side.... would that look funny. Should we go for straight angles? 2\) Crown molding in foyer (ceiling) Max is 2 inches because we want to continue it into our living room which has a window opening that is tight - see pictures- top is the windows in living room that demands short crown molding unless we box around them. Would that look funny? I love thick molding. This is where we would continue the same crown molding. 3\) Interior doorway from the stairs (it is short- eyesight height because you step down) I love thick molding but my husband is afraid that it will dwarf the entryway leading down because it is so short. (Looking downstairs) How would you dress it up? If at all? thank you thank you. I need a decision in the next day or two. **Q: Ethan Allen Retreat Sectional** *(in Design Dilemma)* Anyone familiar with the EA Retreat Sectional? im considering it for my large family room for family movie time, relaxing etc.. Ordering in a super soft fabric so comfort is number one here... Any advice would be very much appreciated!! Thanks A: As an Ethan Allen professional I can tell you that the Retreat section is one of our top selling sectionals. If this is going to be your everyday place to play and relax and prefer fabric I would suggest going with a sunbrella fabric or micro fiber for ease of care. Leather is great as well, but can tend to be stiffer than fabric. It does have great defense against stains, but shouldn't be considered "bullet proof". It will absorb anything left on it if not taken care of and will overtime absorb body oils, etc. I hope this helps and please feel free to ask me any other questions you may have. I'd be happy to help. **Q: HELP my couch looks bad in the room** *(in Design Dilemma)* we moved and the downstairs 'man cave' is a weird layout out our sectional we had looks awful there. Going to get a new couch but I'm lost as what layout would work do I go with love seats or try a sectional in a lighter color? I'm very sad :( esp because its the first thing you see the the right when you open our front door! A: I would place a sofa facing the fireplace for maximum tv viewing. I don't have measurements, if you can handle it doing a love seat on the wall. Get an end table between the sofa and love seat. Don't do a traditional coffee table and do a cluster of ottomans. That way you can put your feet up, provide extra seating if it's super bowl in the "man-cave" etc. In the bay window area I would find two small scale chairs and a 18" round table in between. Have a seating area somewhat separate from the TV viewing area and again if you need the seating you can always pull the chairs in. Hope this helps. Our sofas are grey, the walls are light grey with accent blue, and our hardwood is a dark brown. I want a rug that will make the sofas look more grey, as they currently look more greenish against the floor. I'm need help with some patterns/colour options. I'm leaning towards a grey/white rug but want to bring in the blue wall. Any suggestions would be great!
