We could not have been any happier with our experience! After speaking with him on the phone on a Sunday, Masoud met me at my house for the initial walkthrough the following Wednesday during my lunch hour. He answered all of my questions and was extremely knowledgeable from his years of experience. When he steered me away from more expensive options for more practical ones, I knew that he was interested in getting me the best product for my situation and not trying to make a quick buck. My wife and I then met him after work that evening at the store and he walked us through the hardwood and carpeting choices. Within a few days, he gave us a quote for the different materials we were considering, including their installation cost. We actually then got a second quote from with another big box flooring store that was comparable in price, but we chose to go with Masoud and Floormax because every interaction we had with him confirmed to us that he had our best interest at heart and would go the extra mile to make sure we were satisfied. In the end, we had engineered hardwoods installed in our living room/dining room/upstairs hallway, new hardwood treads and risers installed on our stairs, and new carpeting installed in our bedrooms. Wilmer and Joanna Medina were the wood floor installation team and we could not be happier with their craftsmanship. They stained to hardwood stairs to match exactly the color of the engineered hardwood floors. Since I installed the baseboards on my own the week after the floors went in, he stained all of shoe molding for me so I only needed to measure and cut it. They even came back the following week to fix a minor issue. The carpet installers (I did not catch their names) came in and got all of the rooms done in half of a day. Everyone we dealt with was skilled, professional and efficient. Is there a right one? VOTE and tell us about it in the comments! A: Never steam your wood floors ever!! The heat and water will strip the wood of it's protective polyurethane, stain and natural oils along with causing them to warp. This will also void any type of warranty you may have from the wood manufacturer. Floormax always recommends our customers to use Bona as it is specially manufactured to clean hardwood floors. **Q: What to do with this huge fireplace in 100 yr old house?** *(in Design Dilemma)* It's a small living room with a huge fireplace. The fireplace has a wood façade and we removed one piece and there is wallpaper over plaster underneath. We were hoping for it to be brick, but now we wonder if it's possible to remove the plaster without ruining the original brick? We were hoping to break up the look with the exposed stone but now we don't know. Sadly, the fireplace is unusable at this time, the chimney needs to be rebuilt.
