John Sciarappa came to my home on 6/11/20 and went over the project with me in detail. I was very impressed with his professionalism. He took extensive measurements and even made a video of my basement on his phone so that his estimating department would be able to see the actual space. He said it would take a week or so to get back to me with an estimate. On 6/23/20, John called me and apologized for the delay and said that my project was the next one the estimating department would be working on. I did not hear from anyone from their company until August 3 when I received a text message from Jeremy asking for my email address in order to send me my estimate. When I received the estimate, it was not even for my project. I waited 2 months and received someone else's estimate. I did not bother to respond. **Comment from Sciarappa Construction:** > Unfortunately, the COVID pandemic has put an expected stress on our normal operations and staffing levels. We had a backlog of work to estimate and our staff has been doing our very best to maintain the level of satisfaction that we are known for. I apologize for your experience. I reviewed the proposal that was emailed to you on August 3 and it is, in fact, the basement project that you requested an estimate for. You never really appreciate how much you rely on it till you don’t have it. That being said, Sciarappa Construction went out of their way to minimize the disruption. They “insulated” us from much of the mess – far better than any other contractor we have used to date. They took the time in the design phase to understand our unique requirements and then truly executed during the construction phase. I didn’t feel like we had a builder redoing our kitchen but a craftsman. Their experience helped us deal problems along the way and were able to provide creative solutions allowing us to still get what we wanted. Throughout the entire process they felt like a partner more than a contractor – helping us, guiding us, being an advocate with suppliers, and in the end delivering beyond expectation. > What can we say…the Sciarappa Construction is AWESOME. They treated our home like it was their own. I was very impressed with the whole process and time frame from estimate to completion. I especially appreciated the use of selectable material allowances for each item provided to me. It made it extremely easy to choose the product and finishes I wanted and allowed me to stay within budget. Lowe’s hired Sciarappa for our whole house remodel, flooring, kitchens, 2 bathrooms in Oct. 2017. Work began Nove. 2017 and is not complete in Oct. 2018. Workmanship is shoddy and we will have to hire someone else to complete the project. Sciarappa refused to correct mistakes or complete work they began. **Comment from Sciarappa Construction:** > For many years, Sciarappa Construction has provided outstanding workmanship and customer service to meet our clients’ expectations. In this instance, Sciarappa was contracted by a big box retailer, not directly with this homeowner, to undertake the project and we performed work in accordance with specifications provided by that retailer. The client did not visit the job site at any time during our work to gauge progress or visually observe finished products. The retailer that we partnered with inspects all of our work and uses third party inspectors when required. Had they observed “shoddy workmanship and incomplete” work, they would have compensated the client or used another installer to improve the work. The client chose to seek legal counsel and according to the retailer’s policy, we were not able at that point to return to the job site or complete our work. **★★★★★ — Christina Morris, Feb. 2016** > Sciarappa were hired through Lowes to install our windows and new door. They did and excellent job, were polite and went above and beyond in making the installation custom to our needs.
