I tried putting the thing on the left there to fill in the space but it is definitely too narrow and I think the sticks too tall. I am just finding it difficult finding something that isn't a fortune, won't get broken by my kids, and will work! I know I need a larger mat at front door....but don't know what to put there. I have a large empty wall to the left of the table that I have no clue what to do with...the second shelf of the table I just threw something there but I know it doesn't add anything...for the table top I was thinking maybe I should add smaller or larger frames to the others? Any suggestions? I eventually want to paint but don't know what color and that's a bigger project for later as the whole house needs to be redone. A: I get it. Even without this step I think the other suggestions will give you more oomph! **Q: What do I do with this small non-existing entryway? HELP;)!** *(in Design Dilemma)* Please help me make this "entryway" modern, functional and inviting;). We just moved in;) The main door (down the stairs) leads outside and the other door (right next to the main door) leads to the garage. It's a really tight space. It's begging for a little drama. I would definitely paint walls a white. Maybe with blue undertones to compliment the blue walls up top. You can find some pretty hooks to mount just under the alarm electronics to hold the dog leashes Then I would add a stair runner in something bold. I'm not sure the style of you or your home but an antelope with the back stripe centered…or multi colored stripe. I'm doing this myself so I'll have so $$$ to buy a kicking runner to finish it off. **Q: How to update my living room and dining room** *(in Design Dilemma)* My living and dining room seems very staid. I would like to add some contemporary aspects. Perhaps with a different chair at my desk, a rug or coffee table? I'm not good with accessories either. A: How about turning the sofa so that it faces the dining room with the sun coming in behind it. Move the club chairs to the wall opposite the stairs and the cream chair angled towards the sofa next to the desk with its back to the dining room. Add a nice light colored rug and a glass top coffee table on a metal base. I love the ones pictured above. A beautiful soft blue or gray paint on the backside of your front door and maybe the front as well?? If you update the lighting over the dining table with maybe a drum light and refresh your lamps you will see a huge difference. **Q: I need A LOT of help with flow/design of living/dining room combo** *(in Design Dilemma)* I need help with creating an awesome space. I would appreciate any advice regarding flow, window treatment ideas, layout, sofa ideas, etc. I've attached a photo of the sofa that I am considering. Thanks!! A: An open shelving unit (open on both sides) maybe 6 ft long butted against the wall break between the living and dining area would cozy up the space while keeping the feeling open. I would place the sofa along the wall opposite the stairs and add low upholstered slipper chairs against the window so that you don't block out the window view (providing it's nice) and keeps the room open for people entering the front door. I agree that lush drapes and a large area rug would be great. **Q: Please help me with some fresh paint colors for my home's exterior!** *(in Design Dilemma)* I am going for a traditional, but updated look. I'm thinking a warm gray or a sage green. Should I paint the brick accents? A: Yes. All stucco and brick sage green. I would treat the vertical wood pieces as trim and paint cream. I would paint the entire door frame charcoal grey not just the door. Choose a cream that blends with the stone fence and gate that run in front of the house. This will unify the entire home. I would also take the chair off the front porch. It seems too crowded. Can you create a sitting area on the side patio?
