> When the Tubbs fire destroyed our Fountaingrove home in October 2017, our decision to rebuild necessitated putting together a team of building professionals we could trust and rely on. This included finding landscaping professionals that could execute our design with an in-depth knowledge of emerging city and county landscaping requirements, including those for properties in a Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) zone, and could work collaboratively with us and the rest of our team. Doughty Landscaping came to us through Fontana Construction, our general contractor. We feel fortunate to have found such consummate professionals.

Extremely responsive, budget and quality conscious, Doughty Landscaping worked closely with us over several months to execute our landscape ideas. Bill’s reliable team helped brainstorm solutions for some difficult sloped areas of the yard. Among other elements, they constructed a retaining wall with large granite boulders, sandstone steps, a 22’ diameter brick labyrinth, and gabion box retaining walls. The mostly California native plants that Bill planted were all healthy, and are flourishing now.

> We hired Doughty Landscaping to transform our backyard in San Rafael several years ago. The landscaping came out better than I could have imagined and it ultimately helped us sell the house when we decided to move to Sonoma County. Naturally, they were our first call when it was time to landscape our new house. Besides their creativity and extensive knowledge of everything from native plants to retaining walls, we love working with them because they are dependable, professional, and a pleasure to be around. We can't recommend them enough!

> Bill Doughty and his crew absolutely transformed our huge backyard, and we get tons of compliments on it!
> We inherited a property that had been overgrown with weeds for over a decade. The soil was pure clay. Now it's a lush landscape. They graded the yard and installed an efficient irrigation system with good drainage. For the new patio, Bill took us to handpick the stone, and it's simply stunning. It was important to us to recycle the old patio and deck -- so they took care to build vegetable boxes out of the deck wood, and they created two paths of steps on our hill out of the old concrete patio. They used rocks already on the property and leftover stone from the new patio to create a firepit. We love the stonework -- the work of true artisans. They took just as much care with the plant installation and a year later, the plants and trees are still thriving.

They kept us appraised of the progress at every step, and if something in the plans needed to be adjusted, they consulted with us first before proceeding with the work. The crew was incredibly respectful of our space, and they worked hard and efficiently. Bill is a true people-person who visited the site often so he could oversee the process firsthand instead of just calling us. We appreciated that. And he checked in every month or so after the job was completed to make sure everything was still OK.

A: I believe the diameter is approximately 15 to 18 ft range. It has been a while since we built this project.
