> Equine Facility Design was the design firm for our private horse ranch in Sonoma County, CA. Owner and Architect Matt Johnson consistently demonstrated his commitment to us as a client, his ability to work as a team, his in-depth knowledge of equine architecture and a clear understanding of how to maximize the horse and human experience.
>
> Matt showed remarkable dedication to gaining an understanding of our vision and budget and was always open to our ideas. At the same time, we benefited from his experiential wisdom and practical knowledge. Matt's insight, creative architectural talent and knowledge of construction logistics were a significant contribution to an outstanding Master Site Plan and subsequent building designs. Our thanks to everyone at EFD for their professional, flexible and creative approach to our development.

**★★★★★ — doayan, Sept. 2019**

> Matt is very good at listening to and understanding his client’s needs. He took my floor plans, made some very impactful enhancements and created a massing model that now is our building!
>
> We LOVE it, and so do the many people who visit (it’s so multi-functional we can have residents, our own animals, boarders and Airbnb guests).

> I'm grateful to Matthew Johnson for his help in resolving a complicated permit situation involving a change of use on an existing building.
>
> Then, Matt designed our beautiful barn and I couldn't be happier with it. Matt is a good listener and will be involved as much or as little as you need for your project. The combination of Matt's drawings and Ken Skaggs skills resulted in a setup loved by everyone who visit and most importantly loved by my two mares.

> We have worked with Mathew Johnson of Equine Facility Design since 2009. He is a very forward thinking architect and can design traditional to modern facilities using recycled materials or new green products that truly enhance the end result. All of the designs we have experienced are world class and the planned use of space and the efficiency for their use is a wonderful visual experience.
>
> We highly recommend Mathew Johnson of Equine Facility Design.

> Working with Equine Facility Design, in particular Matt Johnson has been such a wonderful experience. I have been in the horse stable manufacturing business for over 32 years providing stall equipment for some of the most desirable barns in the world.
> The attention he gives to all the details within the barn not only makes the barn beautiful but more importantly that it functions well on a daily basis.

> Equine Facility Design was discovered over the internet when I googled LEED AP and equestrian facility only to find out the market was deep enough for a LEED AP professional by the name of Matt Johnson to make his entire living designing LEED certified equestrian facilities throughout North America. I arranged to meet Matt in Battle Ground, Washington and tour the latest equestrian design (Platinum) for a Washington based client. I was blown away by the thought that gone into the facility. Matt moved forward with me on a design for a project I am working on which can be viewed at www.wildsplendor.com just outside of Edmonton, Alberta. As I move the project forward through the planning process (painfully slow) I will be utilizing Matt's comprehensive knowledge of the equestrian industry and the latest in available LEED certified products that will allow me to achieve LEED ND Platinum status. I highly recommend Matt. Regards, Todd Oeming, CEO, Wild Splendor Development Inc.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Where can I get the plan to this stable?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I wood love the floor plan to this stable. Please advise. Thank you

A: Hello Marcy. The Gilroy design is very popular. We would like to send you some additional information. Could you send us your email address to office@equinefacilitydesign.com? Thanks

**Q: what product is the stall made of?** *(in Photo Questions)*

It looks like a manufactured wood product. If so what is it and how is it standing up? Are the horses chewing it?

A: Hello. Thanks for asking. The material is 100% HDPE tongue and groove recycled plastic lumber. It is available in a couple colors and various wood tones. We have used this type of material for over 15 years. It is extremely durable, easily cleaned, safe, and sustainable. We have not seen nor heard of any chewing and in older projects looks as good today as it did when it was installed.

**Q: Love the corral panels!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Could you please tell me where you got them from and how you attached them to the wall of the barn? It looks like a clever and very versatile design.

A: Thank you. The run fence panels are similar to those made by Priefert and Behlen, and we used a male corral wall panel hookup to allow the fence panels to be attached to the wall.

**Q: Nice** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: We agree.

**Q: Yes, I like the composite siding for wash rack** *(in Photo Questions)*

I really like this siding. Probably in a different color..

A: It comes in a couple wood tone colors. Sample were sent to you for review.

**Q: Like the look of this design** *(in Photo Questions)*

Perfect.

A: Each design is sized per project (number of horses, bedding type, etc.). We have used them for two stalls up to hundreds.
