### Reviews

**★★★★★ — S. Parker, July 2025**

> We are thrilled with our new, transformed yard from Ream Design. From concept, to design, land clearing, planting, and now support, they have been professional, on time, and educating us each step of the way. We highly recommend Ream Design for your next landscape project. We are already planning on the next one!

**★★★★★ — debbusser, July 2022**

> We couldn't be more pleased with the results of our project, which included a custom shed, redesigned retaining wall and patios, new planting beds, and siting and installation of a swim spa. It was clear that every person who worked on the project was committed to doing an excellent job - and they did. Given our space constraints, I don't think any other firm could have done a better job of creating such a high functioning and beautiful space. They listened to our wants and needs with true attention to detail. Highly recommend.

**★★★★★ — HU-281027710, Dec. 2020**

> We have done several projects with Ream Design and highly recommend them. One of the many pleasures of working with them includes their keen eye as well as their appreciation for the artisans who work for them. Our most recent project includes reclaimed granite bridge blocks from the Charlestown bridge which are stunning! Their mason is truly an artisan who takes the time to create a work of art. We are so pleased with Ream Design and love working with Marcus, Sally and Alex.

**★★★★★ — Elena Lunn, Oct. 2020**

> My experience with Ream Design so far has been incredible. Sally has been a pleasure to work with and is so knowledgeable. She sat with us for several video consultations and really took the time to identify our needs in addition to our wants. I gave her a very long list of wants for my small space and in our design, Marcus not only fit them all in but did so in a way that is thoughtful and well planned so each gets its own attention without overshadowing the other or making the space feel crowded. I cannot wait to break ground with this team! They are great communicators and obviously experts in their field.

**★★★★★ — Denise Pied, Oct. 2019**

> Our experience with Ream Design was great! Alex & Marcus were both very attentive to our project from start to finish. They achieved exactly what we wanted for about half the cost of another design/build firm we had previously tried to work with. Marcus focuses on the details and his punch list follow through was excellent! We look forward to working with him on our part 2 hot tub install next year.

**★★★★★ — Kea Woodruff, Dec. 2018**

> Most importantly, Ream Design performs nothing but the highest quality work, always on schedule. We have also been very impressed with their professionalism, discretion, and flexibility!

**★★★★★ — Anne Fiore, Dec. 2018**

> We are very happy with the work that Ream Design has done for us - new deck/patio design and installation. They are very professional and responsive. We decided to add a hot tub into our plans and they worked with us through several iterations to get exactly what we wanted. Excellent workmanship - they are very meticulous about their work and thouroughly cleaned the site when they were finished so that everything looks great. We highly recommend their services.

**★★★★★ — sandra ws, Oct. 2018**

> Ream Design did a wonderful job on my landscaping project. I needed a fairly large area around an existing patio brought to life and they did exactly that. A really pleasing hardscaping portion topped off with lovely plantings. Sally and Marcus are so personable and easy to work with and they and the rest of the team were professional and knowledgeable. All phases of the job were done exactly as described in the planning document with no surprises and good communications. Changes to the plan were done via change order so I was always aware of any additional costs. I'm looking forward to having them back next spring to continue on with the plan. Thanks to all of you who made this project a success!

**★★★★★ — User, March 2018**

> Mass Audubon engaged Ream Design to construct an accessible ramp for our primary headquarters building. Their competence is extraordinary. They pay close attention to detail, and they make sure that everything is built according to the plans, and in a way that will be very durable. Our ramp is comprised of cut stone and really fits the style of the building, thanks to their work. We have gotten lots of compliments on this project, and highly recommend Ream Design!

**★★★★ — Cara Frost, March 2018**

> The team did a great job. They were always professional and a pleasure to work with. The project came out just as discussed without any unwanted surprises.
> We look forward to working with Ream on future projects.
> Thank you Sally and Ream Team!

**★★★★★ — Jacqueline Frey, Jan. 2018**

> We have a completed front yard landscape now for the past 2 seasons and are very happy with our design and plantings. We started a 3 phase project in 2012 with Ream Design and completed the project in the fall of 2015. Our stone wall was the favorite part of our hardscape and the varied plantings around the wall were perfect complements. We had one dwarf Japanese maple tree that died over the winter and Ream replaced the next summer without question. There are a professional and talented group!

**★★★★ — Karla Vogel, Jan. 2018**

> Our last house renovation project included the addition of a patio and plantings to provide a relaxing outdoor area. We saved the best for last! Ream Design came to the rescue by creating a vision for our space that complemented the country surroundings of orchards, rock walls and a vintage New England house. The vision became reality when Alex and Marcus arrived. Their personal installation and supervision of the project was a delightful experience. Both delivered professional expertise to the client and the project. The subcontractors were equally skilled and efficient. Every step in the patio and landscaping installation was well executed and completed in a timely manner. We thoroughly enjoyed the attention and knowledge Sally, Marcus, and Alex gave us. We highly recommend the “Ream Team” to anyone in need of a design vision and execution to enhance their home.

## Community Q&A

**Q: What is this gravel called?** *(in Photo Questions)*

love the look of this

A: This is a 3/4" washed decorative stone.

**Q: Thank you for your replies!!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Just wanted to say how much I appreciate the answers you’ve given to people’s questions. Thank you for taking the time and sharing your expertise.

A: Of course, its our pleasure. Always happy to share our experience and expertise with others.

**Q: how long, wide and deep is the step?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: @judiegressin these granite steps are 4'wide x 13"deep and 7"thick

**Q: measurmenta of the step and what material?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: @judiegressin these pieces of granite are 4'wide, 13"deep and 7"thick

**Q: Edging for gravel path** *(in Photo Questions)*

What did you use the edge / contain the gravel?

A: @Cat Rowe, we used 1/8" thick steel edging. It typically comes in lengths of 10' and is 6" deep. It is important to install the steel edging properly so that it doesn't move over time. We find that setting the steel edging in concrete yields the best results.

**Q: What is the maximum slope you recommend for this type of path?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I need to make the "landings" as steep as is practical in grass or gravel. Do you have a recommendation?
Sloped in Seattle ;-)

A: Maximum slopes are generally 3:1 or 4:1.
