### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Mark & Holly, May 2023**

> Working with Scott and his FEC crew has been an exceptional experience during our condo renovation.
>
> From our first interaction, we felt listened-to and cared-for. Our reno project presented a ton of “fun discoveries” leading to qualified discussion and thoughtful problem-solving. Every issue was handled with focus and determination, with 100% success for a long list of puzzle-pieces.
>
> Communication was clear, transparent, and forthcoming throughout the work, budget was well-considered (and met!), and all services rendered were delivered with care, punctuated by warm humour and friendly conversation.
>
> In the end, we are now becoming comfortable in our beautiful new home and are grateful for the friendly professional support and guidance received along the journey from FEC’s people.
>
> We easily, highly recommend FEC

**★★★★★ — cbrinkerhoff, April 2023**

> Scott did a fantastic job managing our kitchen+ renovation project. There were a few adjustments and tweaks along the way, all of which were handled in a professional and collaborative manner. Everyone worked as a team and Scott was particularly committed to ensuring we were part of every decision so that the end result was something we could all feel good about. We are absolutely thrilled with our new kitchen and can't recommend FEC highly enough.

**★★★★★ — insectile, Aug. 2022**

> We had FEC bid and work with us on a few Reno plans that never came to be, but they were still willing to work with us when we finally had a project that we went ahead with. It was a complicated project with a lot of small pieces, and in the end we are very happy with the results. I have good faith in the honesty and ability of Scott and his team and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again for future projects.

**★★★★★ — LB, June 2022**

> We had a fantastic experience working with the Fifth Element Team on the renovation of our home in Vancouver. The crew was wonderful, communication was great and the work was completed to a high standard.

**★★★★★ — Manoj Raval, June 2022**

> Top notch contractors. Communication and proposals were excellent. Problem-solving in a challenging renovation due to building constraints was done with amazing creativity and knowledge. Workmanship top class. Superb work. Would strongly recommend without reservation.

**★★★★★ — Chris Haines, June 2022**

> Scott and his team at Fifth Element restored my faith in contractors after a poor experience with a previous renovation. They completed their work on time and on budget, plus the results were amazing. Best of all, they communicated extremely well the entire time. I strongly recommend them for any work.

**★★★★★ — Angela Vetro, June 2022**

> Fifth Element is by far the best Construction company I have worked with. They are honest and thorough and their quality of work is second to none. I feel comfortable saying we will be using Fifth Element for any projects we may have in the future.
>
> We did an extensive renovation with them and the outcome yielded an award-winning kitchen! (Designed by the incredible team at Harmony Sense Interiors).
>
> We couldn’t be happier and we couldn’t recommend them enough.

**★★★★★ — Kathryn holmes, May 2021**

> Scott and his team worked on a big bathroom and living room renovation in our home last year, right at the start of the pandemic. We had to shut down the project for a time, right after demolition.... which was a bit nerve wracking, but they helped us set up our laundry for temporary use. Much time and effort was spent protecting our existing spaces and glass railings, carpets, etc. Despite the uncertainty with suppliers, trades, health and safety of everyone involved, Fifth Element calmly and competently came through and delivered us a lovely successful project, that wasn't too delayed either!
>
> I am the designer, so I had some pretty specific details and ideas. These were respected and often we had a chance to develop them and improve them to suit conditions, but always it was a respectful collaboration.
>
> You can see from the photos there was a lot more going on than meets the eye today.
> We couldn't be happier with the outcome.

**★★★★★ — Jason, Feb. 2021**

> Scott and team are super professional delivering projects on time and on budget. They take real care in developing an detailed project estimate and project plan that avoids change orders. They also work with a good team of subtrades that reflect there own professionalism and skill.

**★★★★★ — Les Leier, Aug. 2020**

> Planning a major 2 floor renovation, I met Fifth Element through my designer, Corey Klassen. They are his primary contractor and from the initial meeting, professionalism and quality were projected and delivered.
> The main requirement was adding a load bearing beam when the kitchen was expanded into a formal sitting room. The project was a complete kitchen renovation, flooring, staircase, doors, lighting, cabinetry, ensuite and paint, throughout. The project totalled 6 months and the crew was most accomodating as I was occupying the house for most of that time. Scott is a talented and knowledgeable problem solver, that patiently explained the plan, progression and offered numerous solutions to any issue. Personable, honest and attention to detail are his greatest assets. Dave kept me up to date on the budget, timelines and logistical concerns. The crew were craftsman and Scott has chosen his team, well.
> I couldn't offer a higher recommend, they treated my reno as if it was their own.

> Hi Les! Thank you for the review - very kind. We can't wait to see your new furniture and capture the overall look of how it's all come together.

**★★★★★ — Ruth Chuang, Jan. 2020**

> Last year, Scott and his team at Fifth Element Construction did an extensive reno on my condo. They gutted it, moved walls and totally changed an old condo into a new one. They were on time, on budget and super nice. They did such an outstanding job that I moved into my rental condo and have been thoroughly enjoying my new space. Thank you!!!

**Comment from Fifth Element Construction (FEC):**

> Thank you Ruth. Our relationship with The R & D Group is important to us. You're a dream client! Looking forward to our next project together :)

**★★★★★ — Ron & Diane Brommer, Nov. 2019**

> November 2019
>
> We completed another project with 5th Element Construction in June. Professional, reliable, hard working are only a few words to describe Scott and the 5th Element team.
> In the fall of 2016 was our 1st project with them. The job included replacing patio decks, new vinyl decking and railings on our rental building.
> Scott always kept us up to date on all aspects of the job.The project ran extremely well, with very few surprises and those were dealt with quickly and efficiently. Communication with our building manager, myself and especially with our tenants was great. Scott and the team were always respectful and courteous. In 2017 we had the remaining decks completed.
> This year we totally renovated one of the suites in our building. Scott, the team at 5th Element and the all the different contractors that worked on the project were AWESOME! And the end result was just beautiful.
> We have dealt with many contractors and trades for more than 30 years but 5th Element have been one of the best. Their quality, pride in their work, job site cleanliness and safety and definitely their communication throughout the job has been Top Notch.
> We highly recommend 5th Element Construction and look forward to working with them again in the future!!

  - Location: North Vancouver, BC

  - Description: We lovingly called this house "the weird house" when we first met it. It was strange and awkward, with 4 substantial (unpermitted) renovations under it's belt, but we were really called because the furnace room was in the kitchen. The goal? Make the house a home that was safe, easy to clean, technology free, and had a neutral pallet to keep it all simple and sweet.
- [Hunter Park Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/hunter-park-renovation-pj-vj~3140448)
  - Location: North Vancouver, BC
  - Photos: 12
  - Description: When we first met this family, we thought they weren't as eclectic as the project turned out. We worked on re-aligning the bathroom and kitchen space plans to suit their families needs and discovered a wet room solution on the Pre-Design Consultation that stayed consistent through the design to completion. For the bathroom, squeezing in a tub, shower, toilet and 2 person vanity was the challenge we succeeded with. In the kitchen, a U-Shape with no space and a designed ballroom kitchen ended up w…
- [Riley Park 2](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/riley-park-2-pj-vj~3160108)
  - Location: Vancouver, BC

  - Description: Claw-foot tubs are great, except when they can’t retain the heat and take a long time to fill. This transformation involved the playful use of colour, reimagining an existing master bath and how it’s used, and injecting some sophistication and layered elements to a home. Working within the existing walls, we revolutionized the Client most important part of the day - the morning bath - with a wet room. The guest bath was updated to a more contemporary aesthetic with added storage, and bedrooms we…
- [Coal Harbour Condo Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/coal-harbour-condo-renovation-pj-vj~4026920)
  - Location: Vancouver, BC
  - Photos: 14
  - Description: We first met our Clients virtually by video because they lived and worked overseas, but they owned this amazing and small condominium in downtown Vancouver. Their request was to create more space because this is their home. The colour and material pallet was kept simple and the biggest impact was the herringbone floor that runs off the angle of the living room wall, thru all the spaces, and up the bedroom wall. An added feature was the business class style bed in the storage room that doubles as…
- [Comox Street](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/comox-street-pj-vj~1710547)

  - Description: A 1,550 sq. ft. condominium in the heart of Vancouver's West End was extensively renovated to accommodate the homeowner's unique style. The kitchen features glass-tile backsplash, floating shelves, and an opens plan (and in case you're wondering where the storage went, it is now in hall and in the new fitted hutch). The main entry and corridor once held large swing doors and a butler's pantry, and now they hold a sports closet, bench seat, and customized bi-pass doors to permit use of the needed…

The kitchen was completely renovated and the cabinets feature a recessed aluminum channel (no cabinet hardware) and a glass back-painted backsplash. The staircase was completely re-designed and widened with a glass railing. The powder room was done in a dramatic dark blue while the Master Bathroom had a tub-shower re…

- [Parklane Kitchen](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/parklane-kitchen-pj-vj~1697429)
  - Location: Richmond, BC
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: This budget-friendly kitchen was designed for a family who cooks every day, from scratch, to be a heavy-lifter and a well-appointed room. We designed the kitchen with some current appliances and some new, knowing that upgrades in the future were always a possibility. We economized with some quartz and some laminate, another future upgrade, without compromising style or function. What was a dysfunctional layout and design has turned into an open, inviting and welcoming kitchen for the whole famil…
