**Q: Stuck with impulse-buy sofa in light gray. Doesn't match anything!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Help!  I tend towards reds, oriental rugs, dark wood furniture. A classic + rich + warm look. I used to have a pecan brown sofa that blended well with my red/blue Persian rug and dark wood brown furniture. But one of my cats tore up my sofa. I was too busy to look, so was sofa-less for 5 months.  Lately my living room was becoming overly red with red carpet and red chairs, so I knew I wanted another sofa color.

Fast-forwad Christmas shopping this week. I stumbled upon a PERFECT L-shaped sofa (not too long on the sticking-out end and in cat-friendly fabric. PLUS 40% off. The floor model. It was in light gray. Totally not my color. But it was a neutral and red might work with it. Oriental carpet...uh, not sure. But another lady was in the store and had come back to buy the very sofa I was thinking about. So on impulse I bought it without thinking it thru. (Buying a color I wanted...darker, probably blue, red or brown/beige...would have cost $900 more dollars.) I paid $1500, not exactly a bargain but, yes, slightly on sale. 

It got delivered today and totally does not work. :(  I've been searching color schemes and grey couch themes seem to be white rugs and/or white other accessories. Or light blue or yellow...NOTHING that I have or nec. would want.  I've seen a few burnt orange combos, perhaps brown and blue and grey...but I'm stuck about my rug. I could purchase a new one but it cannot be white--I have cats who throw up and I have no idea about a rug--no more pattern? dark blue? brown?  I'm sooo stuck. All my furniture is dark wood. Most of the photos show minimalist and modern decor with gray sofas. :(  A very pricey impulse purchase that now will cost me more to fix the color-choice mistake. 

To make things worse, I recently got several cat condos. These are a bit tacky but my cats love them. They are all beige carpet. One in the living room. It went ok with the red and browns before. Now with the grey it makes the sofa and carpet and the condo look even tackier!  Help!  Ideas please! 

I'm attaching the rug (the only thing that matches it is my cat--it's a little darker than it looks in the picture, but a LIGHT GRAY, not charcoal). Also here is one of the former iterations of my living room (I frequently rearrange) but it shows my style and some of the my furniture. I still have these red chairs but was going to reupholster...I could try to find some pattern that goes with the grey and perhaps another rug...but it can't be light colored the rug cuz of the cats.  I need new blinds and was thinking about curtains, so could do grey, or blue or burnt orange? I don't know, but this mistake is going to cost me to fix it now :(

A: Rug and couch are great!  Drop the existing coffee table, find an espresso coffee table and accent it with white items. Pull your red and blue from your rug with throw pillows on your couch. Finding artwork to tie all of this together will finish your look!
