> Aaron helped me with my dinning room wainscoting and crown molding. Every time a guests walks in our home someone comments on it. Even the UPS guy. He was extremely professional and stayed on target with my budget and deadline to complete it. I'd highly recommend Aaron for any project. His attention to detail is amazing .

## Community Q&A

**Q: need help with flooring for beach house** *(in Design Dilemma)*

hi, we are building a beach house that will be right on the water so a lot of salt spray exposure etc. We would like floor boards in the main living areas etc but are worried about their longevity with being exposed to water and humidity. We are confused about which type of floor boards as there are so many on the market. Should we go with tiles instead? Thanks

A: A wood floor would be fine I suggest a laminated hard wood if your worried about humidity

**Q: Advice please...kitchen cabinets** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Need to make decision on kitchen cabinets. Since we have a 90" ceiling height we can get 36" inch cabinet bottoms and 36" cabinet tops, which leaves the standard 18" backsplash space. However, I really want trim on top of the cabinets for a more polished/finished look. We have two options:
1). Get 33" top cabinets - this allows for a 3" decorative trim and a full 18" backsplash (This option will cost more because we would have to order custom cabinets and we are losing 3" of cabinet space - Not a deal breaker)
Get the 36" cabinets but instead of the 3" inch trim, use a 1 and 1/2" trim. This means the cabinets will have to be 1 and 1/2" lower, thus limiting the backsplash space to 16 and 1/2" instead of the standard 18"
Advice?!?!?

A: 3in crown at the top would give you a more finished professional look

**Q: Need help with a spiral stairwell** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have a spiral stairwell the needs remodeling. Any good pics that can help me. It has wood on stairs and is currently painted brown

A: Spiral staircase ? Tell me more

**Q: Need help with front of house please** *(in Design Dilemma)*

This is a 1960's colonial with an added entry and garage. There is no curb appeal. I am remodeling it and need help to make it more 2013. Suggestions for paint, windows, doors, shutters and landscaping. thank you

A: build a front porch running the length of the house and add a covered roof

**Q: Laundry room from hell!** *(in Polls)*

Our laundry room is totally inefficient!! It's not quite a room but slightly bigger than a closet. It's "T" shaped design, with the vertical shaft of the T being the kitchen, requires the washer to be on one side and the dryer on the other. There is no room for moving around let alone laundry baskets. The oddly place window makes an ironing bored, drying wrack, or storing brooms, mops, just basic stuff impossible!! The shelves above each unit are way too high for my 5'2 size to reach and I can't even push the dryer completely against the wall and stuff is always dropping behind it. Being able to pull it out to clean behind it, don't even think about it!! I have to climb on top with a broom and vacuum hose! Please help!!!

A: You could do a Stackable washer dryer combo or move walls either way its a wash Lol.

**Q: kitchen cabinets and granite** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am putting in a new kitchen, small house in Long beach ny. my cabinets are cherry wood with a dark finish (almost looks like a mahogany finish). just wondering if you would go with a black granite counter top or something lighter, like in the beige family. i don't like the look of the white granite with the cabinets.
Any suggestions would help

A: Contrast adds interest pick a complementing color of your choice.
