After graduating from Georgia Tech and a brief time at engineering, Doc started building houses in 1972 as Francis Marion builders. We crashed & burned, along with everyone else, in 1974. DocWild was born from the ashes and during that phase of our life we specialized in designing and building bars & restaurants doing most of our work in 5 Points. The crew was mostly a bunch of college boys having fun showing off. We were quite likely one of the most educated groups of hammer slingers in town with Ellis Smith and little Kim Davis working on Masters Degrees and Larry Turner wrapping up his PhD. 

Some older folks may remember we built Greenstreets (3 times), the old Yacht Club, and built Bryan’s Warehouse (perhaps helping birth the Vista?). Also from that group came some of the areas best cabinet makers, Bill Schmidt (Sharky)., David Pietras (Padre), Chip Cromer, and li’l Bill Thomas. After an extended mandatory vacation as a result of an accident, we were called back to service to oversee the construction of the Riverbanks Botanical Garden for Loveless Commercial Contracting. From there we evolved into our current form concentrating on back yards, water, rocks, & play things.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Anyone have experience with fast-growing-trees.com?** *(in Oklahoma Gardening)*

I'm learning not to rely on Lowe's and HD for plant selection, and was wondering if anyone has had success with fast-growing-trees.com. When we bought our house last spring the backyard was just grass--so when a Cleveland select flowering pear went on clearance for $2 I popped it in the ground last fall. Now reading so many negatives I'm not so sure I want to keep it! I'd like at least one ornamental or fruit tree and one evergreen to keep some year-round interest. I love the look of blue spruce, but not sure it could tolerate the heat. I'm still a newbie to OK and to gardening (other than container) so advice is appreciated!

A: Stay away from these folks, they are great marketers & not so great growers.. I fell fell for the "our trees are too big" sale last January & that weren't. Size will be at bottom of range. Jap Maple was a 36" stick w/no branches.  You'll do better at big box store, remember they guarantee theirs. You can kill your plant & return the carcass to Lowes for a refund.
