Initial observation shows a larger-than-life representation of a Stone Fly (a common pattern used in fly fishing). Pete has transformed what is normally intimate (about an inch long, made of feathers and thread) into an impressive table-top piece made of welded steel and soldered copper. The fly-tiers intention is to abstract nature (various food sources of fishes) in order to attract and catch fish. Pete's intention is the gift of access for his viewer - to show us the form and construction of a fly and allow us to behold its beauty and transfiguration.
