> We hired Lucas Craftsmanship to put a small facelift on the front of our house porch as well as a few other smaller projects. From the beginning of the bidding process we experienced great communication from Billy and it continued throughout the project with Joey as our project manager. Our project was done on time, and within budget. The crews are very tidy and cleaned up daily and we felt the quality was superior and therefore really felt we got the value from our investment in this team. Highly recommend!

**Comment from lucas craftsmanship:**

> Thank you for the kind words, it was a pleasure working together.

> This wasn't my first building experience, so I knew what to work for with the project and in my relationship with the Pros. This was, by far, the most enjoyable experience, and it far exceeded even my lofty dreams! Though I've had to move from the house since, my mind still wanders into some of the special spaces in that house--the cozy breakfast nook, the spectacular master bath and its spacious stall shower with a view to the clouds, the kitchen that was always illuminated by natural light filtering down from the skylight, the shiplap wall and exposed chimney that brought character and connection to the past, and the welcoming front porch that always caught a breeze even when there wasn't one. The combination of professionalism, craftsmanship, congeniality and an obvious love for the project made every aspect a real pleasure, and I never doubted that I would love the end result. The existing house was taken down to the studs, and back up to a thing of beauty and comfort. And as Billy said from the start, "on time and in budget." Thanks, Lucas family!

**Comment from lucas craftsmanship:**

> I feel so lucky to have found such a professional group of people to handle my carpentry projects. They treated my property and my pets with so much respect and went to great lengths to make sure every last detail was taken care of. The carpenters and electricians were skilled and precise, and the paint crew was patient and took time to sand and re-coat. The project manager assigned to our job (Joey) was courteous, professional, pleasant to deal with, and really took the time to listen to my ideas. He never blinked when I asked for a modification and communicated with me throughout the 3 week project. They cleaned up their mess every day - I hardly knew they were there!

> Lucas Craftsmanship is the best contractor in Houston. On time and on budget. Great workers. Great craftsmanship. Simply the best.

> We added about 770 sq ft to a Houston Heights bungalow which included a second story with bedrooms, playroom and bath. From the moment Billy walked into the house to see if the project was feasible I knew his company was the one we would use. Two other contractors looked at me like I was an alien from outer space when I told them what we wanted to do, but he immediately understood what we wanted and added his suggestions commenting that he could make it look as though the addition was always there. Lucas Craftsmanship not only did that but finished the job earlier than stated.
> We lived in the house during the construction which entailed erecting a plywood wall dividing the kitchen in half and during the time his people did the construction they were not only neat and very organized, but were respectful of our property as well. We have a 2,000 gal fish pond with some large koi close to the house and worried about what could happen, but the workers built a cover over it and at the end of the construction we did not find one piece of construction material in the water. Because of the pond and also a pool in the back yard, we were concerned about the space constraint. Building material was carefully stacked and the work site was picked up every day.
> With the exception of items we later added, the cost of the project was as bid; there were no surprises during construction. Any question or concern was addressed the day it was brought up and more often than not taken care of on the same day. To say we were impressed is an understatement; I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone who is contemplating a project large or small. We are delighted with our new living space!

> We were extremely happy with Lucas Craftsmanship and our major home renovation. For years before rebuilding our house, we watched rebuilds and new homes in the neighborhood, and LCI's work always stood out. We felt that LCI - Billy, Danny, Steven and the entire staff - did an outstanding and thorough job throughout the entire process of our rebuild. The communication was open and often, the quality of work was top notch, and when issues arose they were dealt with fairly and timely. We appreciate their attention to detail, delivery and follow through on the entire project. We are very pleased with the final product, and very happy in the new house.

> skilled craftsman, clean, on time, professional. Cannot say enough about them. You can pay less for lower quality but you get what you pay for.

> When my wife and decided to renovate our small 2 bedroom, 1 bath bungalow in the historic neighborhood of The Heights in Houston Texas, we had no idea what to expect. We had heard all the horror stories about hiring contractors, and watched the TV shows on HGTV that showed examples of what a bad contractor could do. So we knew this was going to be the most important decision we would make in building our dream house. Lucas Craftsmanship (LCI) was recommended to us by our architect, and we had seen some of their work throughout The Heights. Sometimes you have to go with your gut feeling, and we felt this was going to be a good hire for us. It didn't take long for us to figure out that our most important decision was a good one. These guys were professional from the get go, and I felt certain we were in good hands. In my mind, communication is the most important aspect that goes into a successful project. When I call or send an email with a question or concern, it's important to me that there is someone on the other end who will respond in a timely professional manner. That was never an issue with LCI, even on weekends, I always received a quick and decisive response. One of the things that's inevitable when doing a renovation project to this extent, is that unexpected problems are going to come up, or ideas are going to change throughout the process. It's situations like this that will test your relationship with your contractor. From my perspective, it can go one of two ways. It can either turn into a finger pointing session and blame game, or it can be handled professionally, where the main objective is to find the best solution. When these situations came up, LCI did not disappoint. Their number one priority was to come up with the best solution and to come up with a game plan to best take care of it. The bottom line is, these guys do what it takes to make sure their clients are satisfied, and do it in a fair, respectful, professional manner.

> Lucas Craftsmanship came highly recommended to me by a friend who had used this firm years ago. I had a multi-phased project that covered several rooms of my home. Lucas principles were very professional in the bid phase. They came to my home in a team to discuss the project. However, I found their bid to be unrealistic on the material allowance costs, making the project come in over budget at every turn. The principles never again stepped foot onto my property, but sent their subs to do the work, many of which, although pleasant and kind, spoke no English making communications challenging at best. (I speak Spanish somewhat but do not have a large vocabualary when it comes to construction terms.) Additionally, I had to remain in my home during the work and I found them extremely inflexible and unaccommodating to this fact. They were to remodel my kitchen and planned to demolish the room on day one rendering it completely useless for 7 weeks. And finally, they were completely unhelpful in providing information or advise on design and materials choice. The simply handed me a list of vendors I was supposed to use and instructed me to run all over the Houston metroplex area to find the materials I wanted them to use. I had actually hoped I could select the materials I wanted and they would then shop their vendors on my behalf, to get the best price. Perhaps I am unfamiliar with how the process is to work however, I found them completely unhelpful in this part of the relationship.
>
> So, all the above considered, after one phase of the project, I determined that they simply weren't the contractor for me and found someone else for the other portions of the work I needed done. The work they completed was done to about an 80% standard requiring me to do some touch up and finishing work after they had packed their tools and left the job site. I would not use them in the future and would not recommend them to others with smaller projects (like mine which was a project of ~$40k in total.) I imagine on new builds or larger projects when the house must be vacated, Lucas would be fine to use. They area family run business and appear to pride themselves in their work on larger projects.
>
> When speaking to my friend about this experience, we came to the conclusion that her positive experience with them was when they were a much smaller operation and their specialty was individual projects. I do not think this is true any longer. Their current process is evident of a growing firm managing many projects at once, leaving flexibility and personal attention and/or accommodation out of the mix.

  - Description: No room is quite as multi functional as the kitchen. Sometimes this is the only room LCI is asked to update. That's OK! The heart of the home, this space has evolved from a strictly utilitarian unit into a versatile room to prepare food, entertain guests and share meals. If you’re looking to remodel, keep in mind that a kitchen design needs to successfully blend functionality with personal prerequisites. While a refrigerator, sink, oven and stove are crucial components, you can make several chan…
