It involved removal of the old, wood-burning unit, new gas line and electrical to the fireplace, install of new insert and chimney venting, and drywall removal/repair for running gas lines. > > While we were at it, we also ran a new gas line to the kitchen to replace the existing electric stove. > > Before the project began, Kurt Flores (owner) came over twice to discuss ideas for closing the gap between the old (huge) insert to the new smaller gas unit. He suggested weaving in new brick veneer to match what was existing, which looks great. Plus, he brainstormed on installing a new mantle to replace the one we hated and repairing the poor job on the existing brick veneer where it met the ceiling and woodwork. > > Kurt was on site to supervise all his subcontractors and answer any questions that arose (as they inevitably do). He prepared the site thoroughly to isolate any dust and dirt from other areas of the home, protect the floors, etc. His subcontractor’s work was of high quality. > > His communication during every phase of the project was outstanding. We knew exactly in advance when workers would be onsite. He coordinated the inspection permits, which would have been very frustrating had it not been for his oversight and intervention. He even addressed an issue that was cited during the gas inspection that were the result of old work that had been done improperly. The job they did was outstanding. From start to finish the job was done in five days. The precision of getting the fireplace in and having my existing curio cabinets fit was amazing. It was a well coordinated job to having all the different trades come in to do their job, from the Plummer to the drywall to the texturing of the walls to the paint. Kurt and team went out of the way to make you pleased from start to finish. I have to say they were excellent in keeping their site cleaned and keeping the dust to a minimum.
