> We could not be happier with our custom Havens sink. It’s not only beautiful, it’s a workhorse and easy to keep clean.

> Waterstone's customer service is really bad. Do not trust them. Poor products, poor service. They do not respond to customers.

> I uploaded the quality of the stainless steel sink sent by this company Havens Luxury Metals
> You be the judge, but my plumbers were astounded when they opened the crate. The craftsman's ship of the corners of the sink appear or look like its not sealed nor finished. The base of the sink has a 1/2 dent near the drain and the sheen is uneven, not to mention there is a large circular scratch that appears like they tried to buff out. I called them and sent these pictures and they said they don't take returns and are not responsible. This sink was 4k, I wouldn't accept a 200 dollar sink with a dent and scratch never mind a 4,000 dollar sink. Their explanation was there is some type of product on the base of the sink to make the sheen off and you will need to clean it with a cleaner to correct this issue. I paid 350 to ship it in this large crate which is impressive, but why would the base of the sink be damaged upon arrival, they had no explanation and took no responsibility. Good luck to you if you use this company, it took a lot of time and effort to hire people to measure for this sink and hire to install which never happened. Still waiting to see if I will be refunded by my credit card company as they will not refund my money
> Here is Havens Response- They take no responsibility, the base of the sink was definitely buffed out to hide the circular scratch. The base of the sink is 1/8 of an inch to wide in addition to the damage and poor workmanship .Hello Linda,
> Thank you for sending the photos and for bringing these concerns to our attention.
> We sincerely apologize for the disappointment you’ve experienced with the quality of the sink. We always strive to provide the highest quality products and services, and we're sorry that we fell short in meeting your expectations with this particular piece.
> We’d like to address the issues you raised:
> Spotty Finish: The spotty appearance on your sink is actually residue from our stainless-steel cleaner, which is easy to remove. A gentle wash with water and a soapy sponge should clear it up without issue.
> Shipping and Handling: Your sink was shipped via freight, and there were no accessories inside the sink that could have caused any scratches or dents. All of our sinks undergo a thorough inspection both during packaging and before shipping, so this is very surprising. Did you notice any scratches or damage when the shipment was first received and unpacked? With our quality check before shipping the sink out, there’s no explanation for this, and this is truly an anomaly.
> Basin Grate Offer: As an apology for this situation, we’d like to offer you the Basin Grate you inquired about last week, completely free of charge (a $625 value).
> Cleaning & Care Package: We also offer a Stainless Cleaning & Care Package ($50), which includes Bar Keepers Friend, Bayes Stainless Conditioner, latex gloves, an eco-friendly sponge, and a medium-grade scotch-brite pad. We’d be happy to provide this to you at no charge

> I placed an order for 2 sinks with Havens. Received the first one, nicely packed inside a wooden crate. On Tuesday October 25 the second sink got delivered. Packaged in a cardboard box with bubble wrap. The box was dented and revealed a bent flange on one side of the sink. I contacted Haven and received email that they experience damage on a "small persentage" of sinks. Alex Havens suggested I use a clamp to fix this and that it should be ok once the weight of the countertop is in place. Order total is $4630. Big difference comparing the packaging between the sinks in photos submitted.

> We love our custom sink from havens metal. We are heavy sink users and were worried about scratches and dents from heavy pans. It is holding up great! I highly recommend getting the scrubber/sponge holder. It is really useful. It was designed well w little openings at the end corners which help the water run through the holder easily. Love our sink!

> The team at Havens Luxury Metals fabricated both the sink and backsplash as part of a kitchen remodeling project at our recently-purchased condominium in Scottsdale, AZ. We were being selective in terms of what was being replaced vs. what was being retained - basically, we wanted to keep the Poliform Varenna cabinets, and replace the appliances, sink, backsplash, fixtures and lighting. Our goal was to minimize the need for modifications to the cabinets while thoroughly modernizing the look and feel of the room, so we chose the Prestige finish for both the made-to-measure sink and backsplash. The results really did exceed our expectations - we couldn't be happier!

> i did a kitchen remodel spanning july 2018 through jan 2020. Lacanche range, namibian marble, brazilian granite( no spots) 5 foot copper hood, beautiful handmade custom cabinets. its my dream come true. but the best thing i did, was my Havens copper sink. I absolutely love it! i didnt know i could have such feelings about an object. Its a living work of art....and so so functional.
> i am building a beach house now... trying to stay low budget. but i will absolutely install another Havens sink...even if i have to sleep on a blow up bed for a year.

> We are thrilled with the custom sink that Havens Metal made for us. Our kitchen design had an island, which required an outside corner sink. It was a critical piece for the design to work and Havens Metal was able to fabricate a sink to our specification and it turned out perfect. It totally makes the design work and is very functional. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing custom work.

> I had one of the greatest experiences in the world when I contacted Havens Luxury Metals, (located in Orlando FL). I made a special request for creating a copper sink from my design specs.
>
> Talking long distance, I met Alex Havens (who was not only of the most professional individuals I have ever me - - - but some kind of angel that had the background, knowledge, skills, and professional help to create my dream sink). He shared a vision and a plan - - - and ensured that he could make exactly what I was looking for from the specs I provided. It was going to be made from the purest copper in the US. We went under contract immediately!
>
> Last month, a huge wooden create arrived here in Arizona holding my "beautiful" sink. Havens Luxury Metals exceed my expectations. I am now the proud owner of a gorgeous piece of ‘ART’ and functional sink designed for my new designer kitchen.
>
> I entertain a lot. AND the number one topic that now seems to be discussed at each event is my incredible and artistic custom-made copper sink. Amazing.
>
> The next time I fly to FL, I am going to go out of my way to find Havens Luxury Metals in Orlando, because I want to personally shake the hand of Alex Havens to say 'thank you for making this happen'!

> $25,000 kitchen remodel with custom cabinets, hi end appliances but above all those things I love my 36" single, apron front copper sink the best. The removable grate is key, the cutting boards that fit are great too.
> What a great way to go. Durable, no dents. I dont worry about the finish, it changes every day and it's great. Utilitarian with style! Thank you Havens, I hope every future house I ever live in will have a Havens sink.

> I’m very pleased with the sink I bought from Havens. I called to ask questions a couple of times. They were quick to respond and answer them. The sink fits perfectly.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Copper Sinks** *(in Kitchens)*

I have a couple sinks I'm looking at- one is from Sinkology and the other is CopperSmiths. Can anyone recommend for/against those or any other brand? I like the Sinkology lifetime warranty as the CopperSmith one is 1 year.... but I like this specific coppersmiths sink for the gauge AND price point. It's a 16 gauge as opposed to 17 gauge with the Sinkology sink. Not sure it really matters - I understand the thickness/sound dampening difference but how much louder is a 1 point difference?

A: Helen, thanks so much for your detailed information on this thread, I know the Houzz community greatly appreciates it! I truly enjoyed working with you and I hope you are really enjoying the new sink :)

**Q: Our Master bath remodel** *(in Before & After)*

My first full bathroom design. Strictly amateur (and it shows) homeowner.

Wall Tile: Ann Sacks Contex in Mink
Floor tile: Santa Margherita Palladio polished
Sinks: Duravit
Fixtures: Isenberg Polished Chrome
Counters: Soapstone
Vanity: Custom (Aaron Smith in TX)
Tub: Kohler
Lighting: AspectLED
Wallpaper: Mind the Gap

Ask anything else...

A: Incredible transformation, thanks for sharing!

**Q: Why I am so unhappy with IKEA and their new Havsen double farm sink** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi
We are finishing up a kitchen reno. We went went with Ikea cabinets and their double Domsjo farm sink. We were "lucky" enough to get one of the last ones available - it has since been discontinued. I installed it on our temporary counters - everything was fine - next day though to our horror we saw that it had cracked - about 6" on the inside and part way up the side.

We called IKEA who said they would take care of it. They gave us the option of either having it repaired or we could wait until the new Havsen was out and replace it with it. We were told by an Ikea rep that this new one would be "Identical". We were also told, again by an Ikea rep that they had so many people wanting a Domsjo (guess they crack on a regular basis) that they would likely be doing another run of them. So we waited, and waited and called and called. Finally I found an Ikea person who actually knew what was going on. The Domsjo would not be made again. The new Havsen would not be "identical" - it is missing the washboard at the back. They would not cover the cost to repair my Domsjo - they would only give me $100 and have me sign off on the warranty.

Reluctantly I put in the Havsen sink - again onto the plywood - we needed a sink in for the quartz to get templated.

We don't like the Havsen:
\- it is plain looking without the washboard at the back.
\- the drains are more towards the front of the sink meaning the plumbing and garbage disposal take up almost all of the usable space in the cabinet.
\- the divide between the two bowls is level with the front and back so if you overflow one bowl the water will overflow onto the counter not into the other side.
\- the counter at the back of the sink combined with how the sink sits on the counter is going to be a pain to keep clean.
\- we need to pay an extra $537 for the counter that will now run behind the sink.
\- the sink where the drains fit is fairly thick, maybe this will prevent cracks, but it left just enough space for the waste king disposal to be installed. I wouldn't be surprised if some disposals won't work with this sink.

If we had know the problems we were going to have we would have looked harder at other options besides Ikea. I didn't realize the their cabinet for the sink would only easily fit an Ikea sink. They sort of have you locked in that way.

Thanks for letting me vent - hope this somehow helps others. Best to know what your getting into when you buy Ikea.

A: Sorry to hear about your misfortune with this sink. The Ikea sinks are really bad news in my opinion, I've personally spoken to dozens of customers who have failed Ikea sinks. The ribbed rear deck is a horrible design - as the cleaning involved is very time consuming (imagine cleaning between every rib). Lately, we have seen a huge influx of homeowners with the Domsjo sink that has failed poorly. We are one of the only custom sink manufacturers capable of properly replacing these sinks with respect to keeping existing countertops and cabinetry. While the Ikea sinks are cost effective, they inevitably wear out within months or a few short years which can be a nightmare since the entire kitchen is laid out around the sink. For anyone seeking a sink replacement, consider a Havens custom made sink - which has a lifetime warranty forever guaranteeing the finish.

**Q: Opinion for sink finish** *(in Polls)*

Hj all! Having such a hard time deciding which sinks to choose for island and wetbar. The island will have a beige marble (Taj Majal) and perimeter counter will be black. Lots of cooking and cleaning so anything but stainless is out of question. Which would look better?

A: Indeed, our sinks are more expensive. It's tough to compare an imported sinks with our American craftsmanship both in price and quality.

**Q: Help with Kitchen Countertops!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am going crazy trying to decide what type and color of countertops for our new kitchen and need to decide soon! First I thought I wanted quartz because everyone says it's the way to go, then I went back to granite and quartz. Granite has the beautiful flow that I love and it is a natural stone but quartz is modern and fluid in its own right. Here are some slabs I looked at. I will attach pics of Kitchen. I have white cabinets and a light gray island with gray brown tile floors. My walls are worldly gray by SW. I have looked at a couple of options.
1\. Quartz all over with a heavy vein throughout but worried about my exciting corners where 2 seams will run plus up and over a kitchen bar area. Looking at MSI calacutta classic.
2\. Viscount White Granite on perimeter counters and a light gray quartz on island. The island will not be big due to a black induction cooktop.
3\. Turbine Gray from Ceaserstone on perimeter counters and again a neutral color on island.
Thanks for any input! This is a bigger decision to me than the cabinets were and don't want to date myself or get something too busy or not classic enough.

A: I'll vote for the granite. A beautiful granite countertop will look exceptional in your home's kitchen. Love the way it's coming along, keep the pics coming!

**Q: Help with curb appeal for this charmless 1980s ranch** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm hoping someone can help me come up with some ideas to bring some charm to this home we just purchased. It's a daylight basement home, and this is the front where it just looks like a single story. Right now the plan is to move the recessed front door out a bit, so that it's not recessed quite so much, and also widen the recessed porch by another two feet to the left - although the door won't move to the left. We'll be doing all new windows, and the window you see to the left of the main door (the door on the right with the recessed porch) will be being moved to the left, and expanded in width to be 6 feet long, but will get even shorter, as it will be above a high-back vintage kitchen sink...if I stick with that plan. I'll be honest, realizing how short that window will have to get (27" - the one currently there is 36"), I'm almost re-thinking my beautiful double-drainboard sink.
We're also planning on adding a window to this side, on the far right, to the bedroom there.
So, one idea proposed to us was to just add a pergola across the front, and emphasize the horizontal lines. I had imagined adding a gabled porch, but I don't want it to look even more like a manufactured home than it already does. Because of driveway restrictions, we can only bring the front of the house (for a porch, or whatever) out a maximum of 11 feet.

Any ideas for me? I'd be so grateful for any advice at all, regarding color - paint, trim, roof, windows, and style.

A: Carrie, the home has a lot of potential. If you're particularly looking to add some rustic character in kitchen, we offer beautiful copper sinks and hoods. You mentioned a double drain board, is that something you currently own or are searching for?
Anyways, our copper farmhouse sinks are great for appealing to a ranch style kitchen area. Here are a few ideas of what I'm speaking to.
