We agreed to purchase a home from Cruz Custom Homes at the end of 2019 and after constant delays (five and a half months) and changing possession dates (with very little notice) we finally took possession and that’s when the real fun started: > > Two liens showed up on title on possession date, but after those two were addressed and the owner of Cruz Custom Homes signed a document saying all other trades and suppliers had been paid, we proceeded to take possession of the house. > > Over the next several months we had several trades call us, send us letters, or come to our door looking for money or informing us that they were putting liens on our property because they hadn’t been paid. We had fully paid Cruz Custom Homes at possession. > > Over those same months we also tried in vain to get Cruz to complete a large amount of unfinished work on the home. The owner would tell us to go to his site super to get updates and the site super would just turn around and tell us to go to ask the owner at which point we were given his go to response “it’s starting next week” (11 months later we’re still waiting for “next week”). After months of this runaround, we were forced to start finishing and fixing work ourselves and are now out of pocket tens of thousands of dollars. > > Also, Cruz never did get an occupancy permit from the city for the house or get a final inspection completed on the detached garage. We had to do that ourselves too. > > We encourage anyone considering doing business with Cruz Custom Homes, its owner or any of the various numbered companies he uses, to do their own due diligence.
