## Community Q&A

**Q: Bathroom design dilemma** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello good people, can you help me decide between two bathroom layouts?

Which one do you preffer? Does any design has some obvious mistakes? Im a bit mroe for option 1 but i feel it would be somewaht too minimalistic or empty.

Thank you for your comments and your help

A: Please review our proposal.
We are experts in spatial planning, layout design, and creating coherent, high-end concepts.
Below are the key benefits and considerations to help you navigate the design easily:
Option 1, key points:
1\. Convenient shower placement
\- Allows for unobstructed use and exit - with no visual barriers.
\- Nothing dominates the line of sight, making the space feel lighter and more open.
2\. Optimized routing of utilities
\- With a slight shift in the shower position, a technical gap appears, allowing an easy route for piping to connect the toilet’s concealed cistern.
\- A simple and practical solution that increases flexibility in the plumbing layout.
3\. Additional built-in niche inside the shower
\- The same technical gap creates a niche ideal for storing shower essentials like cosmetics and shampoo.
\- Important: this area is hidden from the entrance, maintaining a visually clean appearance even when products are stored inside.
4\. Comfortable placement for washer and dryer
\- The built-in cabinet is easily accessible making the appliances convenient to use.
\- A narrow section on the left provides space to install a towel warmer or holder—a thoughtful detail for when stepping out of the shower.
5\. Functional sink zone
\- We recommend placing the sink beneath a mirrored cabinet — ideal for storing toothbrushes, cosmetics, and daily-use items.
\- The configuration is compact and well thought-out.
6\. Door opening direction - to be confirmed
\- Important to consider: will the door open inward or outward?
\- If an outward swing is possible, it will create more space inside.
\- This point depends on your broader layout and we are leaving it open for coordination.
Option 2 and alternative Layout summary:
1\. Option for an extended shower enclosure
\- This layout allows for a more spacious, elongated shower area.
\- It enhances both comfort and perceived space during use.
2\. Recommended shower door options:
To maintain ergonomics and avoid blocking access, we suggest the following:
\- Inward-opening door
\- Sliding door
\- Folding (accordion) door

Option 3, key advantages:
Most convenient for daily use:
\- All key elements are placed logically and within easy reach
\- Direct, unobstructed access to the toilet — the most frequently used fixture

Ergonomic sink area:
\- The space around the sink is fully usable — we suggest adding a niche nearby for convenient storage

Additional storage opportunities:
\- Smart zoning allows for:
\- A built-in niche in the shower — ideal for gels, shampoo, squeegees
\- Open shelves near the sink — for towels, cosmetics, and everyday essentials
\- Everything stays within reach without visually cluttering the space

The choice depends on your preferences and budget,
but each of these options is functional, ergonomic, technically feasible, and can be beautifully brought to life.

**Q: Help with bathroom layout: tub/shower combo or no?** *(in Bathrooms)*

We are remodelling a small bathroom. We have different opinions on the layout. One of use wants a separate tub and zero entry shower. We can fit this using a 54 inch tub and a 33x46 tower across from the toilet. The other is worried that the space will be too tight and prefers getting a higher end tub shower combo with a shelf in the extra space behind it. Space planners, what are your thoughts!

A: This will be the best layout option for you. But you have to move the toilet.
\- It allows for a full-sized bathtub and a spacious walk-in shower.
\- You’ll just need to reposition the toilet.
\- To hide the toilet plumbing, we suggest adding a built-in storage cabinet.
\- The toilet can also be wall-mounted with a concealed installation, if you prefer a more minimalist look.
