## About

### Houzz Badges

- 1,000 Ideabook Saves

Designing a functional lifestyle goes well beyond beauty. It is an expression of where you are in your life. Your home should support you, showcase your interests and allow you to feel grounded.

Today we all have access to interior trends and resources; great design is all around us. It is how to interpret the needs and vision of a client, how to make the most of the spaces architecturally and aesthetically that count.

With openness, humor and insight, a really good designer should be able to unify the diverse visions of any client and offer clarity. The goal is to decipher what a client really wants from what they sometimes think they want; that’s the skill of a good listener.

“Acting as both a designer and a therapist may be the most important skill of all.”

**★★★★★ — Robin, March 2018**

> I have known Rob for many years and he has a great eye for design. I had the pleasure to work with him on my apartment in NYC. He did a fantastic job that showed his creativity and talent. He listens to all the desires of each person and comes up with a design that meets the needs of everyone. The end result was a unique and comfortable space that we love.

**★★★★★ — Jess Sodaski, March 2018**

> Rob is truly a magician when it comes to interior design. As a first time apartment owner i was very nervous going into this project. In regard to quality, customer service and over all responsiveness and accessibility during the project I can't say enough about Rob. He is not only honest and reliable, but also an absolute perfectionist as a designer and overseeing the contractors. I would recommend Rob to anyone considering without reservation. You hear so many horror stories about apartment renovations in New York and thankfully I have none to tell.

**★★★★★ — kavi\_gupta, March 2018**

> Rob has done a fantastic job for me through multiple properties. He is an exceptionally gifted designer who takes personal interest in every aspect of the project. He succcesfully transformed 2 of my properties (an apt in Manhattan and a House in the Hamptons) very tastefully and economically. He is a perfectionist and a true artist. I have received rave reviews from every guest, and I am extremely comfortable with the finished products. He goes above and beyond. I highly recommend him.

- [Hudson River Views - West Village, NY](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/hudson-river-views-west-village-ny-pj-vj~2691599)
  - Location: New York, NY
  - Photos: 23
  - Description: A dated, uninspired apartment with standard ceiling heights, average proportions and a small, simple fireplace needed a sophisticated makeover. This transformation was extreme, designed to take on the feel of a hip and trendy cosmopolitan lounge. We looked to the open sky and stellar Hudson River view for our color inspiration. Textural black elements were used to ground the main spaces and metallics to reflect the ever changing light that dances off the river. The addition of wide, multiple doo…
- [New Jersey Hilltop Home](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/new-jersey-hilltop-home-pj-vj~2700047)
  - Location: Cedar Grove, NJ
  - Photos: 36
  - Description: This transitional home now stands where a nondescript 1950s ranch once stood. The views from its ample windows take advantage of the endless views that the cliff side offers. Designed to be very traditional on the exterior, the interior is a bit more relaxed. The double height living room is a comfortable family environment. The double-sided fireplace on one side merges classic elements with industrial iron. Subtle Venetian plaster finishes, cool tones and textures are everywhere in this home. T…
- [Greenwich Street Townhouse - West Village, NY](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/greenwich-street-townhouse-west-village-ny-pj-vj~2691448)
  - Location: New York, NY
  - Photos: 26
  - Description: A decade old town home looks to traditional elements to ground it in history. This fearless family yearned for a color infused, yet calming, fresh design all with the detail and nuance of a rarified turn of the century townhouse. Vintage mantles, layered moldings, patterned wallpapers and colorful fabrics come together in this family friendly home. We nudged various walls slightly throughout the floor plan to provide for a more spacious feel. The challenge in the master bedroom was to create a l…
- [Perry Street Condo - West Village, NY](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/perry-street-condo-west-village-ny-pj-vj~2691458)
  - Location: New York, NY
  - Photos: 21
  - Description: This 1980s West Village warehouse conversion was desperate for a personality. In the designer’s own apartment, we took advantage of the extraordinarily high ceilings, a wood burning fireplace and panoramic NYC views to set the stage for a grand design. Stripped to the bones, every inch was re-conceived to bring forth a home that speaks to the past...just updated. An antique rolling library ladder easily reaches storage areas that are typically unused. “I pulled out every design trick I knew when…
- [Park Views Central Park West](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/park-views-central-park-west-pj-vj~2691559)
  - Location: New York, NY
  - Photos: 14
  - Description: From the moment you walk through the door, you are coaxed down a long hallway by photos that recall the neighborhood’s history. A few more steps and it is easy to see why everyone loves this apartment. It’s the views...vistas of the great Central Park. It was obvious that no matter how we designed the apartment, that would still be the ‘star attraction. These clients yearned for a simple, clean contemporary design with the slightest introduction of Asian flair. The background tones were chosen i…
- [Deco Pied-et-Terre - Gramercy Park, NY](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/deco-pied-et-terre-gramercy-park-ny-pj-vj~2691567)
  - Location: New York, NY
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: A 1940s classic apartment meets today’s color palette with bold strokes of the period. “We pumped up the style volume on this one.” Using existing architectural elements with modern influences, their apartment was reborn. Grey tailored furnishings were used and ‘popped’ with the clients favorite colors to create an exciting yet refined space. The jewel of a kitchen can be tucked away behind frosted glass doors. In the dining room we kept a vintage built-in china cabinet, painted the interior pur…
- [Hamptons Hide Out](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/hamptons-hide-out-pj-vj~2707252)
  - Location: Not specified

  - Description: This client was searching for a wonderful summer retreat. Finding "perfection" at any price point is daunting. The pool, land and size of this house was perfect however this home was stuck in the late 80s. We flattened the arched entry ceiling and clad it in grey wood panels and totally redid the door and sidelights. I took away all the arches inside and out, reworked the fireplace and all the lighting. We removed massive kitchen doors as that closed off the space and I could not see them ever b…
- [Irvington House](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/irvington-house-pj-vj~2691464)
  - Location: Irvington, NY
  - Photos: 20
  - Description: An 1850s home revisits it’s long history, adding back the nuances that time had taken away. Driven by generously proportioned rooms and traces of original architectural details, we took our design cues and set about creating a family friendly home. The color envelope of each room is neutral. Using a significant amount of the furniture, rugs and accessories from the client’s former home, in some new and different ways, we added in new pieces to tie the rooms together. We agreed that every room ha…
- [West Village Beach](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/west-village-beach-pj-vj~2691612)
  - Location: New York, NY
  - Photos: 12
  - Description: The surf inspired the renovation of this West Village apartment. Sandy tones mixed with blues and greens extracted from beach glass are a relaxing alternative to the ‘Bachelor Pad’ aesthetic this client had been living in. The entry foyer is a spare space with a warm industrial edge, opening up to a living room of comfortable, relaxed furniture. Grasscloth covered walls embrace the seaside and accents make for a year-round vacation. A dining room was created by adding a knee wall to accommodate…
- [Southern Comfort - Ft. Lauderdale, FL](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/southern-comfort-ft-lauderdale-fl-pj-vj~2691584)
  - Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
  - Photos: 24
  - Description: New high-rise construction often lacks character however its the perfect blank canvas. This high-rise has captivating, meandering inter-coastal and ocean views, and with a few tweaks a great open floor plan comes to life. Inspired by Miami deco, mid-century aesthetics and 1960s pop, we compiled our favorite aspects of each decade using today’s warm regional colors. All these rooms were designed for relaxation and entertaining. The spaces have definitive style and flair. Broad architectural strok…
- [Family Friendly Home - West Village, NY](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/family-friendly-home-west-village-ny-pj-vj~2691574)
  - Location: New York, NY
  - Photos: 17
  - Description: An uninspired box becomes a comfortable family residence. Low ceilings kept buyers from taking on this project. A simple beamed ceiling solved that problem. “So much of successful design is the power of illusion.” By adding a wall, coat closet and dropping the ceiling, we created an entry foyer. An antique styled side light window lets in the light and gives a glimpse of the space and of the bright windows beyond. We added and earthy stone accent wall, classic woodwork and a patterned grasscloth…
- [High Rise Chic - Fort Lee, NJ](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/high-rise-chic-fort-lee-nj-pj-vj~2691470)
  - Location: Fort Lee, NJ
  - Photos: 11
  - Description: A great floor plan, absent of any style, gets the glamour treatment. Lush yet cozy, this apartment is livably chic. With quiet patterns, subtle textures and interesting shapes, the essence of this client is revealed. “The warm tones used throughout are soothing and...I’ll say it sexy.” All the pieces have been collected over time and are rotated, in and out, as the couple yearns for something new. “We have worked together for years, so I create rooms that can subtly transform as they do.”
- [Top of the Tudor - Rye, NY](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/top-of-the-tudor-rye-ny-pj-vj~2699894)
  - Location: Rye, NY
  - Photos: 20
  - Description: As you get to the top floors of a vintage home, the rooms can be come more difficult to efficiently design due to the roof lines. This challenge can also provide for great opportunity. The previous owner added the master bedroom in this home on. We designed it as light and airy and in a more transitional approach. It features soft grey neutrals and silvers are energized with gorgeous berry tones and a hint of taupe. The extraordinary area rug lifts the room with a tight Asian influenced pattern.…
