Not crazy about the drapery and would love some advice on colour, texture and style to change them too. Need advice also on area rug, is pendant lighting okay? Picture over the credenza on scale? What about stencilling that one wall with an ikat pattern and leaning mirror? HELP! A: The left print is a fabric swatch something like that would look great on your windows. I can't really see what your curtains are made of so unsure but they could work depending on how the rest of your room comes together. The right textured swatch is a rug and I am not sure of the manufacture. Hope this helps. **Q: Need help updating my moms fireplace for her** *(in Design Dilemma)* Need help figuring out a design. What to do!? The brick is in great condition but the wood has got to change. Any ideas would be super appreciated! A: If you have to keep the doors trying taking them off and updating with a more modern door front. Do not paint the brick the color is fine and it is already in good condition. Darken the mantle and I am not sure what the fireplace wall color is but that could be changed out easily if needed. Good luck! Thanks A: Here are some samples colors for inspiration: Matt **Q: ideas for my living room** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hello all, I want to furnish my living room and would love some feedback and ideas. The room is in a one bedroom apartment and is connected to my bedroom via sliding pocket doors. I usually leave them open because I like the feel of the open space. I've attached some photos of the room. My current ideas are to replace the arm chair in the bay window with a bistro dining table + chairs. I'm thinking about the Euro Style table and the Tendy stacking chairs. I would like to add a light-color/pattern rug under the coffee table. I like the simple style of the current couch, but it's not very comfortable so I'm looking to replace it with something similar. The current arm chair I would like to replace with something that matches the style of the new couch and then position it on the left of the couch, close to the pocket doors leading to my bedroom. I also need to find a nice side-table and possibly a new TV stand to fit with the rest of the items. One thing I'm really not sure about is colors. I like the light-gray of the couch and the black coffee table. For the bistro table + chairs I was thinking walnut or some dark wood. But is that boring since the hardwood is already dark? Should I get something lighter instead? How will it match the couch + arm chair? I'm also still looking for a nice side table. We bought a cottage and this is the "great room" with the sellers existing furniture and paint colour. It's a small space and is somewhat limited by the placement of the propane oven and doors.
