**★★★★★ — Copake Lake, Jan. 2022**

> We cannot say enough about our experience with this amazing team during our project! James Dixon Architects (JDA) has brought calm to this building project on Copake Lake from the first moment we spoke to them. It all began when we called their offices and met Valerie after doing some research and looking through portfolios. Valerie is the office manager and such a delight! Following our call with Valerie, we spoke to Jim, Founder of JDA, and took him through our vision. We knew right away after that call with Jim that JDA was the right fit for us. The synergy and feel good moments continued when we met Matt and Jesse who are wonderful architects, collaborators, and visionaries. Their attention to detail, creativity, and ability to execute has been everything we had been asking for.
>
> Not only do they listen and implement your ideas, but they were always willing to take us through their ideas to improve the project and maximize the design. We relied on them heavily to understand functionality, new trends, materials, and great design ideas. They have a great vision for the project and continue to amaze us with their creativity. The team continues to coach us through all decisions as their communication is superb. We have felt informed and connected on every step of the building process from bidding out builders, to picking out materials as well as weekly updates from the site. We are mid-way with the construction of our project and we can’t wait for the next steps building and designing together. We move into the lake home in the Fall of ‘22 and know our home will meet all of our dreams. We would recommend JDA to any potential client who is looking for a true collaborator that will hold your hand through a very complicated process and best execute on your vision.

**★★★★★ — sherrymeeks, Dec. 2020**

> From the moment we met James (Jim) Dixon we knew that we wanted him and his team to design our new home in New York's Hudson Valley.
>
> We contracted with James Dixon Associates (JDA) to design our home as well as oversee and project manage the construction process. The design process we went through with the team was not only highly professional but also such a very enjoyable experience! We always looked forward to the design meetings because of the collaboration of each one of the architects on the team and their ability to listen to and incorporate our every wish. Each member of the team has a tremendous amount of talent and creativity and they all suggested details we had never considered but that have made the design uniquely ours.
>
> We are about 6 months from completion of the project. Jim or his team have been on the site weekly since the construction began, making sure that no detail is missed. We receive a weekly Field Report with photos which has been particularly important to us since the Covid 19 situation has limited our ability to travel to the site.
>
> Jim and his team have done a spectacular job ensuring that the vision we and they had is being executed flawlessly. Their communication skills, attention to detail and overall professionalism is no doubt why the project is going so well. And, the icing on the cake, they are all just such terrific people and fun to be with!
>
> We could not recommend Jim and his associates more highly.

**★★★★★ — Brown Cranna, Dec. 2017**

> As a design professional, I have had the pleasure to work with James Dixon Architects on a number of projects in upstate NY in recent years. On each project, James and his highly skilled team have proven again and again that they are not only professional, exact and creative, but totally client driven. They always think outside of the box and deliver a beautiful, exciting and truly livable space. Their detailed craft and sophisticated hand shine through on each project. They meet the clients budget expectations and complete the project in a timely manner. I'd highly recommend James and his firm without pause.

> We have worked with James Dixon Architect PC on several residential renovation projects in NYC. He is well versed in all aspects of construction and is familiar with unexpected complications that can occur on design intensive projects. His solutions to problems are well thought out and timely while maintaining design integrity and his client's best interests. These qualities, along with his competent staff, proved valuable in completing projects on a timely basis and within budget.

> Our office is currently collaborating with James Dixon on a country estate and we would highly recommend them for any project. Whether a renovation of a historical home or new construction, Jim's team has an incredible sensitivity to historical accuracy and a true understanding of the details that make a project special. His experience, taste level, and professionalism are unsurpassed and he has created some the most stunning properties in upstate New York and beyond.

**★★★★★ — Wickham Solid Wood Studio, July 2014**

> I am a custom furniture maker, working with self-processed Hudson Valley hardwoods. Jim Dixon hired me recently for two extraordinary projects -- a quarter sawn walnut bedroom credenza set and a white oak + blackened steel kitchen island. Collaborating with Jim and his team was a great experience! We worked closely together to develop unique design solutions, with a focus on celebrating the integrity of the materials used. Jim has an exquisite eye and a playful touch -- I cannot recommend his work highly enough!

**★★★★★ — Conlin Rudd Interior Design, Inc., March 2014**

> I am an interior designer who has been working with James Dixon Architects on an extensive renovation of an upstate New York farmhouse. Every aspect of the collaboration has been extremely positive – from their thoroughly detailed drawings to the aesthetic they create. Even better, the James Dixon team also happens to be personable and enjoyable to work with. This combination has made the project successful in every respect. Their work is stellar!

**★★★★★ — austerlitz12, March 2014**

> We couldn't recommend James Dixon Architect more. We hired Jim to design and oversee the renovation of our 100 year old farm house. Their design was respectful of the historic nature of the home while bringing in modern conveniences and addressing the practical demands of living with small children. Jim and his team were a pleasure to work with. Their approach was highly collaborative - they were always willing to make recommendations - while respecting our decisions. We also valued their high levels of organization and communication - Jim was always quick to answer panicked emails or phone calls in his reassuring manner. We were so happy to work with him that we've recently hired James Dixon Architect for a second project.

**★★★★★ — eddo52, March 2014**

> I have worked on several projects with Mr. Dixon and his company as project manager for the general contractor. James is very professional and communicates well. His designs are elegant; his knowledge of construction complete. He is a pleasure to work with because he understands the construction process well and integrates that knowledge into his drawings.

**★★★★★ — Fink Builders, March 2014**

> James Dixon is an excellent partner to work with on any new home or existing home renovation. As a general contractor, I have had the opportunity to work with James on various projects over the past 2-3 years, and am currently working on one with James and his colleagues. Meticulous, creative and judicious - these are the first three words that come to mind when I think of James and his team. James is customer-centric, never losing sight of the goal: making the client happy. He is responsive and accessible and I wouldn't think twice before working with James again or recommending him to any prospective client.

**★★★★★ — jromanchuk, March 2014**

> As a homebuilder in Columbia County, N.Y., I have recently had the opportunity to work with Jim Dixon on two large, custom projects under his design direction. Jim has a wonderful aesthetic sense. He is a very able architect, professional and sensitive to overall design as well as attention to the fine details. His staff are also quite competent and a pleasure to work with. I look forward to many more projects with Jim.
> Sincerely, Jim Romanchuk
> James Romanchuk & Sons, Inc.

**★★★★★ — T W Black INC, March 2014**

> Jim and I have worked together on several projects. He and his team are a dream to work with. They are consummate professionals who are prompt, courteous, and always imaginative. They easy to work with, no attitude, and build great working relationships with everyone involved in a project. I eagerly look forward to working with them again soon.

## Community Q&A

**Q: what is the wall material?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is the wall considered a ship lap pattern? what is the wall construction style?

A: Hi - This is simple gypsum board wall construction with applied trim. It mimics a board and batten look, rather than shiplap which uses butt joints.

**Q: what color is the paint?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What color is the paint

A: Good morning! The color is Benjamin Moore’s Duxbury Gray. - Jim Dixon

**Q: Window/trim color please?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Curious if these windows and trim are white, or something more like canvas? Thanks!

A: Thank you for your inquiry. We used Benjamin Moore Dove White, which is a nice, warm white.

**Q: Chandelier in Dining Room** *(in Photo Questions)*

Who makes this light fixture, please?

A: Thank you for you question. This beautiful light fixture was specified by the talented decorators, Powell & Bonnell.

A: Hi - thank you for your note. We have certainly designed quite a few recreational structures with similar features. All of our work is custom-tailored for each client and site; we'd be happy to work with you on your project as well. Feel free to visit our website at www.JDixonArchitect.com or to contact us directly at Info@JDixonArchitect.com

**Q: Where did you get the black and white striped shades?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I'd like them to go over the sink in the kitchen
