New floor installation is decent - some uneven areas that have large gaps. The poly across the entire downstairs is lifting and peeling - doesn’t appear he used the higher end finish I paid for/enough coats since everything is peeling and lifting now. I have to have a another company come in for $2000 to rebuff and poly the floors. > > Other issues we experienced: to power the sander they opened up my electrical box in basement without asking and rigged it to plug the machines in. as a result, blew the fuse and didn’t check to make electric was back on which resulted in the refrigerator being off, etc for more than 12 hours. > > After we brought this to Celsos attention, he reminded his guys to make sure the electric was back on. The next day, the fridge had no power (again) and water was pooled infront of the fridge on the newly sanded floors which resulted in the floorboards needing to be replaced. The replacement of the floorboards were not done properly because after 2 months, the wood was soft, wavy and lifting from the rest of the wood. When I called Celso to ask if he can come fix, he said he would stop by. Celso did not show up to look at the issues - instead, he sent two workers with minimal English to do the job. When the floors were completed, I noticed they did not match the rest of the floors - the workers used the wrong finish (shiney, instead of satin). the company returned to my home to fix the work for a third time and it still doesnt look right. I’m paying another company to help me fix my floors. It’s unfortunate because the floors still don’t match and this was a result of shine star ruining them. > > Once I brought my concerns about the ruined floors to celso attention, he agreed to install vinyl in the laundry room. However, once celso “fixed” the floors infront of the fridge he asked for the $500 for the vinyl installation, however, the woods floors are still not fixed and were a direct cause of his company. > > If the communication was more clear, between myself and Celso (by documenting via email) and Celso and his workers - some of these issues could have been resolved. We had to scramble to get a new installer and found Celso through the retailer where we bought out Somerset flooring, Vanwoods (Adel). We checked reviews and booked an estimate date. He gave us an initial $2.50 psf price without seeing the space and made plans to visit the site the following week, after Labor Day. The quote ended up being $3.50 psf to glue the tongue and groove flooring for approx. 700 sq ft plus $1,050 to demo, remove trash and patch the existing floor. I received a contract by email from his office and we were all set with payment due after completion. We hired Celso and he showed up that Saturday, early and ready to work with a crew of 5 to get the job done in 1 day, but the site wasn’t ready due to our contractors delays. The kitchen was to be installed (minimum base cabinets) and the site was to be ready for flooring. It was nowhere near ready with debris covering the floors, materials covering the floor and the island wasn’t installed (still wasn’t installed until nearly a week later - 8.5 weeks into an 8 week project). Celso and my GC spoke and I later learned that the GC wanted the crew to hang out while they moved everything around, from side to side. The GC only had 1 guy with him.
