**★★★★ — HU-717690976, May 2026**

> Jeff Kida recently put together a team to remodel my master bath and smaller bathroom. I have to say that the project came out looking fantastic! Jeff has a unique ability to be able to put the project together while staying within budget. My bathrooms appear more luxurious than I thought was possible. I am glad that I hired Jeff Kida. I am also very happy with the Kohler brand items installed. I will consider hiring Jeff in the future.

**★★★★★ — HU-3822416, April 2021**

> Jeff listened attentively to our needs, offered kitchen layout choices, advice on cabinets (make / style / finish). His recommendations were exactly on point, and the layout we chose works ideally.
> The cabinets and appliances were installed, with only minor "adjustments" (such as are typically required in any installation finishing work.
> His follow-up was excellent, demonstrating \[again\] his diligence and professionalism.
> And he did all this remotely - a wonderful service differentiator in these days!
> We would most certainly recommend Jeff's services to friends and neighbors.

**Comment from DDS Design Services, LLC by Jeff Kida:**

> Jeff and the professionals he brought into our project all deserve 10 stars. Our project had multiple sub-projects (kitchen, skylights, electrical, plumbing) that were all handled in an efficient manner. Not only that, the customer service level was outstanding. Jeff and all the subcontractors bent over backwards to make sure we understood each step of the project and patiently explained the details. Major kudos to the entire team. If you need work done in your home, you will be hard pressed to find a better alternative.

**Comment from DDS Design Services, LLC by Jeff Kida:**

> Thanks you two were great to work with. Can't wait to see you celebrate the space with your friends and family when the pandemic is over.

> Jeff Kida was wonderful to work with! He went out of his way to make sure that we were comfortable with all aspects of our kitchen remodel. Our cabinets fit beautifully in our kitchen and we are so happy with how it all came out! Jeff lent us a microwave when I couldn't find one in the store, checked on us personally and became a friend to us. We would be happy to work with him again and wholeheartedly refer him

**Comment from DDS Design Services, LLC by Jeff Kida:**

> Thanks for the kind words Jamie. Doing the Glenview 70's Remake presented a lot of challenges for DDS Design Services and Nelson Carpentry. Glad you liked the "Captured Inset" design aesthetic. The flexibility of our custom cabinetry line was really put to the test here. Thanks to you we have recently expanded our Appliance Lending Depot to include Crock Pots, Electric Frying Pans, and a folding table or two. Extension cords not included, yet. Thank you again. It was great working with you.

**★★★★★ — ourhomeideasinc, Oct. 2016**

> I called Jeff for advice on my kitchen remodel/update. He was able to meet at our home in the evening which fit our schedule and was prompt. He was extremely knowledgable and gave us options to fit our budget. He is very creative and gave us ideas and information we hadn't even thought about. PRIOR to finding Jeff, we had been working with another contractor for the rest of the house and Jeff still answered ALL of our questions and concerns and didn't rush our consultation. As soon as we're ready to start the kitchen we will be calling him back.

**Comment from DDS Design Services, LLC by Jeff Kida:**

> Thank you for the kind words and making the effort to write this review. I look forward to working with you on the kitchen project.

> Jeff and his team were great to with on this project. We waited years to upgrade our kitchen and master bath so we knew exactly what we wanted. The kitchen was gutted, which included removing a wall to expand the room and relocating our washer and dryer. The bathroom required removing the tub and installing a walk-in shower. Jeff provided us detailed drawing and a realistic budget. He offered cost saving suggestions that did not compromise the overall look. The project started and finished on schedule, and we were kept informed on the progress and experienced minimal hiccups. The end result was amazing! I would highly recommend Jeff to anyone interested in remodeling.

**Comment from DDS Design Services, LLC by Jeff Kida:**

> It was a pleasure working with you and your family. It was also fun getting to know some of your neighbors.

**★★★★★ — mprichas, Nov. 2014**

> After the ice maker broke on our refrigerator, the wooden floors buckled and showed water damage. Trying to put the old kitchen back together seemed like a waste of money, so with Jeff's help, we created a new, more functional, and certainly more beautiful kitchen. Jeff listened to my concerns about the kitchen and created a great design that works really well. He kept me informed throughout the entire process, and it all went very smoothly. I recommend DDS Design Services without any hesitation. He did a great job start to finish!

> We hired Jeff Kida of DDS Design Services to help us update a 30 year old kitchen in a 90 year old house. He was extremely helpful in helping us choose materials and colors to work with what we were keeping in the kitchen. The work was easy to schedule and done very professionally. If you are looking to completely remodel or just do an update you couldn't do better than DDS Design Services.

**★★★★★ — epieroth, March 2014**

> We used Jeff for our complete kitchen gut and remodel. We had absolutely no idea where to start and where overwhelmed with all of the choices. Jeff started from the beginning and drew up the designs. He spent a great deal of time with us to make the designs perfect. He is very knowledgeable on kitchen design and constantly gave us information that was incredibly useful. I have recommended to many people and will continue to do so! My husband and I are so glad we hired him.

**Comment from DDS Design Services, LLC by Jeff Kida:**

> Thank you E. Looking forward to seeing the project to it's completion.

## Community Q&A

**Q: I'd like feedback on my kitchen addition layout** *(in Appliances)*

Attached is my current draft layout for my kitchen remodel and addition. Any tips/advice/comments are appreciated. I'm looking for a double wall over that is reasonably priced and a gas range that is reasonably priced.

A: This layout does not look like it was done by a pro. On the refrigerator wall you indicate an oven. I assume you mean either a cook top or a range. The refrigerator is in a rather awkward place too. In a kitchen this size I would also recommend a prep sink in the island in proximity to the refrigerator. I assume the room at the bottom left of the drawing is a pantry. Consider removing it or at the very least re-configuring it. If you are in the Chicago area we would be glad to help. If you are not look to see if there is a NARI chapter in your area. If there is reach out to them.

**Q: kitchen total gut need advice** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Here is old kitchen.

A: Hire a professional kitchen designer and contractor that can help you put an actual budget together. What you expressed (50K) is not a budget its a spending wish.

**Q: Master Bath from Scratch** *(in Remodeling)*

We're putting in a 5 x 8 master bathroom. There's a window on the 5' wall, we're doing a shower enclosure along the full length of the other 5' wall, and we're doing a pocket door on the 8' wall directly in front of the vanity which will be placed next to the window.

My question for anyone who's ever renovated a bathroom... what do you love about it and what do you wish you had done? We're starting with a blank slate and would love to hear your recommendations!

A: What is most important is you get what you love. Bathrooms are expensive. Consider hiring a professional to help you lay it out. Before doing that however, I would go to some plumbing supply houses with showrooms and look to see what is available. Some of the questions you will need to decide are: One sink or two? Tub or not? Bidet or not? Seat in the shower? How many spray heads? You get the idea.

**Q: Wooden kitchen cabinets** *(in Design Dilemma)*

New build, custom cabinets. Trying to decide between unstained cherry vs unstained maple with a dark stained maple island. Thoughts? Love the warmth of cherry, but wonder if out of Style. Maple is lighter and brighter. Both go well with tile and granite

A: I would consider a lightly stained cherry. Cherry will darken over time. However, maple tends to darken and turn yellow over time as well.

**Q: More AntiEtch Sealer for marble countertops** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Has anyone used More AntiEtch sealer for marble kitchen countertops? I have endlessly debated about whether to install marble but I love it and think I will go for it. The stone supplier today mentioned a new product called "More AntiEtch" which is guaranteed for 10 years. They said they have tried to stain their samples with ketchup etc and even poured battery acid on them and the sealer held. Apparently it is quite expensive as they have to sand the counters down before applying and then rehone or polish the counters but if it lasts 10 years....!

A: I have never heard of re-honing in someones home. I am very skeptical. You may want to look up a This Old House episode that interviewed Iron Chef Michael Simon on the remodeling he was doing in his own home. He was installing Marble and addressed the etching and staining issue.

**Q: Front Door Suppliers Midwest** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Looking for recommendations of where I can have a door like this made! Preferably Nebraska or Midwest. TIA!

A: Any good quality lumber yard or mill-work house should be able to order something for you. Some brands to look at are Simpson, TruStyle and ThermaTru are all good brands. ThermaTru is a fiberglass door. It will out perform wood doors and typically comes with a life time warranty. However, they are more limited in the sizes and configurations they can offer.
