He also pointed out some drainage issues we weren't aware of and diagnosed an insect problem on our shrubs. > We loved the design Bob came up with for getting our landscape in shape. The estimates were reasonable and he was able to break the project up into different stages so we could do it over time. Their work was excellent and the crew clean cut and curious. It may not be quite as big as Russels but they have a good selection and the prices are reasonable. It might be far for you but it’s a great place to browse and they have a nice cafe, so it would probably worth your trip. **Q: Fencing** *(in Design Dilemma)* What type of fencing would you recommend? We want it mainly for the purpose of our dog, however wouldn't mind if it provides privacy. We live in a subdivision and or house is tan with black shutters. I'm stumped on what type of fencing would look best? Wood, tan vinyl, white vinyl, or black chain link? You will be able to see the fencing from all sides of house. We are also on sort of a hill so privacy isn't THAT important as you may still be able to see into the yard. Also my hubby likes a nice green striped yard so I'm not sure how he would like a fence that will take away viewing the yard. A: If you'd like to use a fence that allows you to still see the home and the landscape consider steel fencing. **Q: buckets** *(in Photo Questions)* can you please tell me where i can buy these buckets/? thank you! A: These vintage florist buckets were salvaged from a nursery that closed many years ago. I sometimes see them at antique stores or flea markets. There are also cheap reproductions available but there's nothing like the patina of the older buckets. **Q: should I cut down the trees and start fresh?** *(in Design Dilemma)* going to buy this house and not sure what to do with the trees. On some level I like them and they look nice and provide shade, but on the other hand I don't think any of them are particularly beautiful and I like the idea of knocking everything down and starting fresh. Was thinking of putting a focal point Tree in each Corner, maybe like a cherry blossom or crepe myrtle , nothing that would be taller than twenty-five or thirty feet with a nice canopy. what do you guys think? A: I strongly agree with all the above comments about keeping the shade trees until you've had a chance to see how they look when they are leafed out. At that time you can determine which if any are causing too much shade and which might be providing beneficial shade . Definately an arborist should be consulted to determine the health and condition to help you decide which trees to keep and which ones to consider removing. The shrubs around the house are overgrown and should likely go and are easily replaced. Replacing mature trees takes decades. As far as considering new trees it is also good idea to consult a local nursery or landscape expert. Cherry trees in our are are very prone to insect and disease issues. If a client of mine would like a to add a cherry tree to their landscape I always check to see if there are any diseased trees on adjacent properties or wooded areas. Diseases like 'black knot' spread very easily and if something like that is prevalent in a neighborhood I suggest staying away from cherry and other susceptible trees. **Q: trying to id this plant** *(in Other)* A: It looks like some type of Clematis vine. My guess would be Sweet Autumn Clematis , Clematis ternafolia **Q: Flower boxes** *(in Photo Questions)* Were those boxes built as part of the garage project or are they aftermarket? If they are sold somewhere, could you tell me where? Thanks. A: Thank you for your interest in our project. The window boxes were ordered online from https://flowerwindowboxes.com/ . We used the Charleston model. They are a heavy duty pvc but look like a natural wood product. I like the durability and the interior dimensions are very generous.
