> I have had the pleasure of working with Allison for the past few years. Custom Alley Slipcovers made a beautiful valance in my bedroom for my former home in NYS back in September of this year. Most recently since relocating down to the Jersey shore area she will be customizing valances for my new bedroom as well. She is a true professional in every sense of the word. Her work is beautiful. I would recommend her to anyone who wanted to change or recreate a living space.

**Comment from Custom Alley Slipcovers:**

> Thank you so much for the wonderful recommendation. You too were a pleasure to work with. I was happy to help.

**★★★★★ — Michele Rosell, Sept. 2014**

> When we moved last year, I was very disappointed the headboard Allison made ripped. With Allison's help we chose a pattern that worked. She also suggested covering the window seat to tie the room together. As an added bonus Allison hand delivered and put it all together. While she was here she also hung the valance in the guest room, which was ALOT of work. I could have never accomplished all this on my own. Thank you Allison for alway going the extra mile for your clients.

**Comment from Custom Alley Slipcovers:**

> Thank you so much, Michele, for your great review. I am so happy that they worked out so well, that the new house is coming together, and that everyone loves them. I hope the valence for the living room is good too. I would love to do the windows in the family room.

It’s as free flowing as abstract painting, and the results are stunning.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Need advice with living room furniture layout** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I need help with my new living room layout. I want to wall mount the TV but do not want to have my sofa in the middle of the room. Both sides have nice lighting - one is a huge window and the other side is a patio door. Any ideas on how to place the TV and sofa?

The sofa is around 84 inches wide and 36 inches deep. the TV is a 46 inch.

The below photos are from the staging of the house.

A: I was going to suggest what JudyGDesigns suggested. It's the best solution if you want to have seating facing the TV.

**Q: Patterned sofas in small spaces** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Took the summer to redo this entire '80's room ourselves - remove popcorn ceiling, remove brick fireplace surround, new floor, paint, and did the crown moulding myself.
There were originally TWO identical sofas - one on each wall. Kids moved out and took one.
Imagine all furniture seen in room picture is dumped. Please comment on attached photo of potential new sofa and whether two identical sofas like this would work in this space. Need to maximize seating.

A: I can't imagine where you would put a second sofa in this room? I don't think it works on the wall either. What if you ran it opposite the fire place ( on a diagonal). If you could wrangle enough room, MAYBE you could place smallish matching chairs on either side of a cocktail table ( or consider a not too oversized ottoman, that could be more seating if necessary ) between the ( now angled) sofa and the fireplace. Kudos for the reno...it came out beautiful.

**Q: New Living Room - need advice!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

\- Any ideas on decor?
\- I also need a chair for my corner desk... I wanted a clear acrylic chair but that just isn't very practical for comfort if I'm actually sitting there working.
\- What do I do with these blank walls?
\- Color combo ideas?

A: I would move the sofa to the big wall, and put the chair and ottoman under the window. This way all seating has a view of the TV. Definitely a larger TV stand. Use the turquoise piece as an end table. By moving the couch you can also anchor your triptych of pictures over it. I Know this means the desk has no corner. Can it go somewhere else?

**Q: Ideas for a weatherproof patio/outdoor space.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I love the whole "outdoor living room" idea and all the plush cozy accents that people use in their patio designs. However, I live in the beautiful Northwest (Seattle, to be exact), which is known for its drizzly climate. I would love some ideas to create such a space (more a lounging space rather than an eating space) with materials and pieces that aren't easily damaged by rain.

A: Here is a picture with the covers.

**Q: Can you give me an estimate on the slipcover Sink Into Luxury?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I have a couch very similar to the first one under Sensational Sofas (Sink into Luxury). Can you give me an estimate on the slipcover on that couch? Thank you.

A: Thanks so much for contacting me, there is an estimate in your email. Have a great day!

**Q: Window Covering** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am thinking of putting some sort of nice fabric roman shade, but am not sure. Any advice on fabric or a different type of window covering in this space?

A: You can also team them with drapes, or a dd drapes along side.
