We fully renovated the kitchen almost 25 years ago, so it was in need of updating. However, the layout works well, the cabinet boxes are still in very good shape, and most of the appliances are fine. Instead of the cost and hassle of another full renovation, Adams built and installed new cabinet doors and drawer faces, crown molding, two new cabinets, a frame for the refrigerator, backsplash, quartz countertop, and installed a new sink. We now have a bright, modern, new-looking kitchen with more functional space. Jason and the rest of the crew did a great job, and communications with Trish were generally very good. Finally, Steve and his crew impressed with constant attention to detail and a strong emphasis of doing things right rather than fast or cheap. While it was built in 1993, it had great bones and an open floor plan. > > There were 4x4 white ceramic tiles on the kitchen counter tops and island. I felt I could live with the white laminate cabinets as they were in relatively good shape but the tile had to go. Flash forward to 2014 when those laminated cabinets were an eyesore. In reaching out to kitchen remodeling firms, no one would take a chance on reusing the granite as we were told it would possibly break (there was a 16 foot expanse on one surface alone.) Refacing was our only alternative or so we thought. To be honest most of the refacing companies only do that, reface and I wasn't sure that was all we needed to do. > > A friend recommended Adams Fine Furniture as he built her customer cabinets for her office. We met with Steve Adams who provided us with a new design idea. He worked through our concerns, budget and time frame and came up with the perfect plan: He tore out the existing soffits, built all new cabinets for the uppers and rebuilt and/or refaced around the existing lower structure. > > Because he owns his own shop, he is able to design and construct the custom cabinets there before demo'ing the kitchen. (We had our new appliances delivered to his shop and they built around them insuring precision.) Hence, our downtime was minimal. > > The work is that of a craftsman. The grain of the wood on the cabinet doors "waterfalls" from top to bottom. The doors and drawers are all soft close and dovetailed. Everything about the kitchen is now updated and yet more inviting, warmer. Because this is an open room, Steve also updated the 1990's adobe media center that had cutouts for a 42" TV to a flat wall with wood accents to pull it together without overwhelming our budget or the space with wood. We now have a nice media wall. > > Everyone was courteous and on time. (The Drywaller could cover things better but that's actual work was outstanding and a minor compliant.) We collaborated on the design over a period of weeks and came up with something we are thrilled with, and a design that was different from other things they said they'd built. The piece was built with pride and true workmanship, attention to detail, and everything we asked for. We'd specifically asked them to use a variety of hickory grains so the piece would have some additional character. The finished piece is truly one-of-a-kind. The installation was also carefully done. The tub was so unique and fun to install. The floor is actually tile, we would not recommend wood for a bathroom. Only because there is water on the floor a lot of the time and this would cause problems with the wood. They have a good selection of this kind of tile at Floor and Décor.
