They bring a new level of professionalism to the remodeling industry: from the fleet of the white vehicles with the colorful logo down to the well equipped, clean cut workers that work for them. On this particular job that my company had the opportunity to work with them, they had their own designers and project managers working directly with the home owner. Any project that the home owner would select they had specialists in that field; in fact, most of their workers were skilled in multiple trades giving K Build an advantage to keep most of the projects "in house" instead of hiring other companies in that would drive up the price. K Build works at a fast pace but cares about the smallest details and leaves a clean job site which makes my company looking forward to working with this well organized team again. **★★★★★ — wbbaak, April 2013** > K-build was hired to do a $ 45,000 upgrade on our just purchased 2,000 square foot top-floor condo. Logistical circumstances had forced us to buy the unit from pictures and floor-plans actually sight unseen. We hired K-build on the recommendation of family and friends who had had K-build do projects for them. So K-build was well recommended. We 1st did our planning in coordination with a design specialist who represented us and worked with K-build contractors to create the style and ambiance we wanted. The condo at the time of purchase was scruffy and time worn and a complete cosmetic face-lift was needed.; indeed a rebuilding from the dry wall out. Josh and Steve, K-build's team leaders and proprietors made numerous cost saving suggestions about floor tiling and bathroom refinishing details prior to setting the budget. In the end we adopted them all. > > Meanwhile, we were still living in our old home 1200 miles away. When plans were completed, there was a 3 week window before we were scheduled for a long distance move in on July 18. Actual demolition work began on June 26. > > We were moving from an up-scale ocean view home in La Jolla, CA where we had lived for 46 years. In that time we had had numerous remodeling projects done by 1st class contractors. We had always been on-site, as work progressed, and know what 1st class people can and should do..This project was the first time we had not been personally present to see what was going on in what was to be our new home. > > We worried a lot about whether it could be delivered to us as specified and on time, worries that were entirely unnecessary. K-build's work was completed on budget in time for carpeting installation one day before promised. We occupied the finished condo on the 18th as planned. We walked in on for the first time on moving day and there was our condo apartment just as we had visualized it. We have lived in it for almost a year as of this writing and are as pleased as the day we walked in. > > As for the long distance movers themselves, that was another story, but K-build sure did their job. > > What follows is a list of work completed and/or installed after the necessary preparatory demolition. Both the demolition and construction phases were finished within the 3 week time frame. > > 1\) All new baseboards, door and window trim > 2). 9 upgraded raised panel doors for bedrooms. baths and closets, two pocket doors to match. > 3\) 3 rooms of new tile flooring > 4\) Two new toilets and bidet washlet > 5\) Installation of louvered window shutters > 6\) All doors and mill-work newly painted. Walls and ceilings dry wall repaired or replaced as needed and all repainted to owner specifications. > 7\) Dishwasher in kitchen, > 8\) Additional 6 inches of blown in insulation to ceiling ( ours is a top floor unit) > 9\) Dry-walling as needed > 10\) Some rewiring for electric outlets , TV cables and phone lines. > 11\) Some changes in Central air and heating ducting and louvers. > > Without excellent coordination, this project would never have been completed in the time frame given. > > Clean-up after each day's work was meticulous, especially important because we share a parking area, hallways, and elevator with 32 other apartments. Much of the construction material was elevated to the balcony of our unit. There were no complaints from co-residents or Condo management. > > The management,, workmen and on the job professionalism by K-build were excellent, indeed even outstanding.
